Police State

For decades the AP and the rest of the media have aided and abetted the government as it built the surveillance state we all suffer under. Now the AP is unhappy to learn government has used the surveillance systems it cheered about against its reporters. It's tempting to laugh at the irony, but the government is probably recording me and would use it against me too. Unlike the Benghazi and the IRS scandal, this is a scandal that won't go away because it pits the government against its accomplice press. This is the best news freedom lovers have had in a long time. Look for the government to silence this scandal by offering the press an exemption from surveillance.
"The AP reported that the government has not said why it wanted the records. But it noted that U.S. officials have said they were probing how details of a foiled bomb plot that targeted a U.S.-bound aircraft leaked in May 2012. The news agency said records from five reporters and an editor who worked on a story about the plot were among those collected, but it said none of the information the government has shared with it suggested agents listened in on any reporters' calls."
Maybe they haven't listened in because a subpoena doesn't allow them to listen in, but since it was recently confirmed that the US records all phone calls, government agents can listen in if they want.
