Immigration

Hoppe offers a novel idea for dealing with illegal immigrants. Leave them alone. No path to citizenship. No vote. No deportation. The problem with this is they eat up tons of taxpayer dollars with schools, roads, policing, health care, etc. And leaving them alone invites more foreigners to come here illegally and eat up even more tax dollars. So while this sounds good and humane, it's still a net drain on our economy. The most positive aspect of this plan is that, when our economy crashes, those here illegally will leave if they aren't imprisoned here behind a wall.

I don't understand comparing illegal immigrants who don't want to obey the law with people who came here seeking asylum because they were being oppressed. And if anybody wants to voluntarily pay for the health care, schooling, and other things for illegal immigrants that currently being paid for by money stolen from others, then more power to them. Having stolen taxpayer money pay for so much for these people also boosts the power of the state. It's bad enough that Americans steal our money. We don't need to increase the theft by allowing foreigners to do it to.
