A responsible person would just identify themselves if there’s a brief check to be done and then they would be on their way.”"Drawing the attention of law enforcement is fine, but officers cannot arrest somebody for not answering questions.

Man illegally arrested for not answering questions while legally, openly carrying a firearm. I doubt he'll get anywhere near the sum of money he's asking for since he's claiming emotional trauma for an incident he seems to have intentionally instigated, but it sounds like the police did act illegally. It sounds like the facts are not in dispute.
