We already talk to Iran and Syria through intermediaries, and capitulating on direct talks with Iran and Syria will only strengthen those countries in the region. We should shut down immigration between Iraq and both Iran and Syria and destroy terrorist staging areas in both countries - like we should have done from the moment we invaded Iraq.
