US envoy says the Russian invasion of Georgia strengthens the case for bringing Georgia into NATO. What? That's inviting a war with Russia. That's complete lunacy. Sec. of Defense Gates says the US will not send military forces to Georgia. Then why bring them into NATO? That's what NATO is - a mutual defense pact. Georgia can't help the US defend itself, but bringing Georgia into NATO can surely drag the US into a war with Russia.
Poland quickly ends it's coy flirtation and wholeheartedly embraces US missile shield, permanent bases, and mutual security pacts. Poland was already in NATO (unfortunately), so we were already obligated to defend them against Russia, so this is win for the US and a setback for Russia. This is just the first domino to fall against Russia because of their aggression. Look for the tension to increase.
So much for the power sharing deal between Mugabe and the opposition leader. Mugabe has barred the opposition leader from travel.
Charles Krauthammer does a good job explaining Russia's motives in Georgia and presenting an excellent response plan for the US and our European allies.
Hillary Clinton is sandbagging Obama and laying the groundwork to hijack the convention if at all possible. And with Obama's terrible performance since the primaries, it's definitely possible. He seems awful naive here, which seems odd after the way he managed to defeat her in the primary. On the other hand, he needs Clinton's supporters, so she has him over a barrel. I'm not the only one who thinks Hillary wears the pants in the Obama-Hillary relationship.
I don't usually post videos or anything like them in this blog, but for this parody of Nickelback's Rock Star called Pop Star, I'm making an exception. Then I'm watching it again.
One of the Texas 7, who road trains past my little ranch many years ago, was executed by Texas.
