Free kibbles

Cato explains that E-Verify won't stop illegal immigration, but it will increase identity theft. The economic benefits of breaking into America are too great for Mexicans and others to pass up, and no verification system will change that. What will change that is cracking down on employers of illegal immigrants which will make the jobs and the economic incentive disappear.

Now we can see just how badly the Bush administration and Congress screwed up the Guantanamo tribunals. Because the stupid tribunals are set up far too much like a criminal trial, we now the have the absurd situation where Osama bin Laden's driver gets sentenced to 5 and a half years.

Osama bin Laden's driver should never have been tried for war crimes. Driving a car isn't a war crime. He should have been locked in the prison camp until the end of the war like every prisoner of war in history. These absurd tribunals have fed into the misconception that these terrorists are criminals instead of enemy combatants.

Now the liberals are going to call for his release after he's been imprisoned 5 and half years. The administration may still hold him as an enemy combatant, which is what they should have done all along without any tribunal, but if they do, they're going to get slammed for that. They've put themselves in a no-win situation by trying to appease the liberals who don't think we're at war.

These tribunals should have been modeled much closer to the Nuremberg trials, which were merely vehicles for publicizing the crimes of the Nazis before they were executed.

Our interference in Pakistani internal affairs led the murder of Bhutto, the election of a government that appeases the terrorists and is hostile to us, the loss of power of our best ally in Pakistan in President Musharraf, and might now lead to Musharraf's impeachment. Nice job, Bush.

Because of government interference in the health care system, a cadre of crooks in LA bilked taxpayers out of money for phony ailments of homeless people. Everywhere government goes, corruption grows. This couldn't happen in a free market health care system.

British hospitals are plagued by vermin. Bugs and rats infest hospitals. This is the model liberals want the US to follow.

Author shows that the income redistribution policies of government cost Americans 25% of GDP. That's nearly $4 trillion today.

Los Angeles city councilmen want to force Lowes, Home Depot and similar stores to provide facilities for illegal immigrant day laborers who show up there looking for a day's work.

California is considering a state holiday called "Gay Day". You have to be kidding me.

2/3s of Americans are overweight, and all Americans could be in 40 years. Not all. Somebody will exercise.

Author postulates that oil would be $200 a barrel if Bush had pulled out of Iraq, as Democrats wanted, instead of sending in Gen. Petraeus' and the surge.

Dayton is one of America's 10 fastest declining cities.

At least some liberals are honest about the left's energy goals - Obama supporters declare they want to see gasoline go to $10 a gallon.

Ann Coulter thinks the media would have wall-to-wall coverage if Mitt Romney was discovered to have a love child and wonders why they don't have similar coverage of Edwards' out of wedlock baby. This article has a great quote from Edwards about fidelity.

So now any mention of Obama's physical appearance, including that he's good looking for a politician, is an underhanded attempt to inject race into the presidential race.

How conservatives scare Americans about sex. John Stossel points out that all the bad numbers about sex are going down. But why? I doubt it's because scaring works, but Stossel never addresses why, so maybe scaring does work.

A good description of why pie in the sky alternative energy programs won't surpass oil anytime soon no matter how much hope, change or fraud liberals fall for. But far and away the fastest way to replace oil with alternate energy is to dramatically reduce the size and scope of government, allow a free energy market and adopt the FairTax.

How come gas prices have only risen by 100% while oil prices have risen 225%? Oil must only account for about half of the price of gasoline.

Alaska has sued the federal government to take polar bears off the endangered species list. A while back I asked why energy consumers don't sue environmentalists for all the extra money they pay for energy because of the environmentalists' lawsuits. Maybe this will start the trend.

Unaccountable EPA bureaucracy and an activist judge imprison man for providing flood control to subdivision as required by local government.

2000 year old Baghdad battery may have been used for electro-plating. How about the gold arc of the Covenant? Nice list of problems by skeptic. I didn't know 12 of them had been discovered.

Von Mises claims people hate capitalism because they're less successful than others which is a reflection on themselves. I'm sure that's part of it, but the other part is they see people who are less capable and don't work as hard who are successful, a al Paris Hilton or Anna Nicole Smith. Is Paris being rewarded proportionate to her contribution to the well-being of her fellow men? Not quite. She is being paid proportionate the value some people place on her though. She has rich parents who place a high value on her. And that difference in values creates friction and wealth envy. All this misses something. It doesn't explain why a person as successful as Barack Obama hates capitalism.

Ground in a location in California soars to 800 degrees. Sounds like hell on earth.
