Free kibbles

The US is making the same argument I've made over and over regarding communication using telecoms - we surrendered any expectation of privacy when we used that public system. Now the US wants access to all stored email messages without a warrant because users surrendered their privacy when they signed the TOS. This is a perfectly valid argument. Only a fool would think that his email was private. If companies can access them at will, certainly the government should as well for security purposes.

2 employers of illegal aliens pleaded guilty to defrauding the government and harboring illegal aliens. Excellent. We need more prosecutions like these, and they should be highly publicized.

Democrats won't fight Bush on war funding. Democrats are smart enough to see that the vast majority of the American people want victory despite Democrats' attempts to defeat us. This just goes to show that Democrats are not stupid - they know they're undermining the country with their anti-victory efforts, but they're not willing to risk their jobs to do so.

EU plans to collect 19 pieces of personal information on every traveler to the EU. Sounds like the EU may be scaring away visitors like the US has been.

China stonewalls Sec. Gates on its military build-up, then misleads him into thinking they'll help stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. The communist Chinese government is playing us for fools, and we play fools all too well.

PetroChina becomes world's far and away the world's largest company.

Isreali extremists campaign for release of assassin who killed Yitzhak Rabin. Wow. How whacked to you have to be to campaign for the release of an assassin?

New technology for tracking copyrighted material online. I just provide links.

Police gas, beat and detain lawyers in Pakistan. Just to prove that nothing is too serious to joke about, that doesn't sound like a bad thing.

Italy is deporting Romanians with criminal records. Why just Romanians? I can understand a policy of deporting foreigners who commit crimes, I would prefer felonies, but I don't understand why you would target foreigners from a specific country over others.

Ex-Treasury Sec. Robert Rubin takes over Citigroup.

Reason shows that because Bush has so disastrously screwed up the US economy by doubling the size of government that people think Democrats would be better shepherds. The people are wrong because no matter how terrible Republicans govern, Democrats are always worse, but Republicans earned a severe spanking. I just don't think they'll get another in 2008 because Democrats, in a very short year, have earned a worse spanking. Democrats will be exposed as even worse by election time.

I have no problem at all with Hillary Clinton running as a woman. Men are jealous because they can't connect with women in the same way. I do have a problem with her playing a victim. Trying to garner sympathy by playing the poor little woman being attacked by mean old men is bull, and I hope more women see right through it. She is trying to have it both ways, and she's having great success at it so far. I don't think it will work well enough for her to win the general election.

Mickey Kaus points out that Democrats are paralyzed on illegal immigration by fear of Latinos on the one hand and fear of Americans on the other. They're mistaken. The party that stands with me firmly against illegal immigration and for legal immigrants will win both groups.

It turns out the rumored Google-phone is really an open software platform for cellphones. If successful, this will create an open standard, lowering prices and increasing functionality. Sweet.
