Free kibbles

Tennessee town is out of water. It used to be that this kind of thing could only happen in communist countries, but the more the US adopts those same failed socialist policies, the more central planning supplants the free market, the more ridiculous disasters we can expect. Water supply should be managed by the free market, not central planning. In a free market, reduced water resources would have led to higher prices, which would have led to reduced demand and investment in more water resources. The tap would never have run dry. Government subsidies always lead to shortages because they manipulate people into thinking there's a greater supply of a commodity than there actually is.

Bush vetoes $23 billion water bill because it is laden with pork barrel projects. The House version of the bill was $15 billion. The Senate version was $13 billion. The conference committee added the pork projects from both houses together to make the final bill $23 billion. Republicans and Democrats are united to overturn this veto because both parties care more about using pork to buy votes than they care about good government. This is yet another egregious example of how Congressmen abuse their power and thumb their noses at the will of the American people. The 2 parties have so corrupted the system that there is no third party competition, and as we all know, when organizations face no competition they get corrupted by power. This is our fault because no matter the damage the 2 parties wreak on our country, we keep re-electing them election after election.

The feds never investigate Congressmen for kickbacks from their earmarks. Sen. Stevens got away with that for 30 years until a local newspaper identified the corruption. We should demand the next President make it the highest priority of his Justice Dept. to investigate Congressional corruption.

30 Senators warn Bush that he has no power to attack Iran. Of course he does. The President can strike anywhere in the world on his own authority as long as US troops are not in the country after 90 days. Congress would have to pass a law to revoke that authority for Iran, which they have not done.

With our help, Iraqi citizens are taking their country back from terrorists and militias. Much like us, they need take back control of their government as well.

Muslim extremists have expanded their domination of northern Pakistan. That's just foreign to me. Pakistan is not a poor country. Why can't they secure their own country?

Al Jazeera initiates propaganda blitz concerning Israel's bombing of a nuclear site in Syria. Al Jazeera claims it was the US that destroyed the site using a tactical nuclear bomb. Liberals will eat this stuff up like pure heroin.

Troops assault Venezuelans protesting against Chavez' new dictatorship. This will get worse before it gets better.

Entire Mexican state of Tabasco flooded. 300,000 trapped, and oil production shut down.

Farm bill increases food stamp welfare by $1 billion.

Iowa repeals tax on pumpkins. Gosh. I wonder why.

If the USA is so unwelcoming, and we're getting fewer visitors, why did the Feds have to stop British Airways from adding new flights to Kennedy airport because it's too busy? We're not getting the full story in either of these reports.

Social networking sites attract the over 50 crowd in large numbers.

Reason applauds Dubai workers striking for better working conditions.

Congresses passes SCHIP again, pretty much unchanged. Democrats are convinced their misleading sound bites will work in their favor in a veto match with Bush.

Newt thinks Hillary's performance in the last debate dropped her chances for the Democrat nomination from 80% to 50%. As I predicted, Hillary wasn't hurt by her performance, and I still bet it's because women rallied around her because they think the big, bad men all teamed up on the poor little woman. Clinton complains that the men are beating up on the poor little woman. Obama points out that Hillary is hiding behind being a woman. The criticism is not only accurate, but it must be effective because after playing the female card yesterday, today Hillary went out of her way to explain that the other candidates went after her because she was ahead, which is accurate. She'll play it whichever way she thinks works best for the audience in front of her and count on the press to give her the usual Clinton pass.

Scientists genetically engineer super-athletic mouse that lives longer and has more sex. Too bad they can't package a drink to do the same for us.

New Joss Whedon show sounds pretty interesting.
