The Detroit school board is bribing students with a pair of Nike sneakers to show up on "count day" so the school board can get the maximum amount of money stolen from taxpayers from the state.

"As an ex-police officer friend notes, watch for the follow-up reports on parents/guardians/whoever trading the vouchers for drugs."

No kidding.

Catholic schools are losing students.

"The Miami Valley has seen a disproportionate number of schools close or consolidate in recent years, something Rigg has called a “tragedy.” Half of the 22 Catholic schools that closed or merged due to urban flight, changing demographics, charter school competition and other factors between 2005 and 2010 have been in this area."

Of course government one of the major reasons government created public schools in the US was to slow the advance of Catholicism and advance Protestantism.

"Why did nineteenth century Christians go along with this scheme? One of the central reasons was that most were Protestants who hoped common schools would slow the spread of Catholicism in the new world. What mattered most about Horace Mann was that he wasn’t sympathetic to Catholicism! It mattered less that he and his Unitarian colleagues were preaching that man could perfect himself through his own efforts, and that compulsory education was a means to this end. So Protestant Christians, including many clergy, supported government schools thinking they could control them."

And now government is trying to finally kill Catholic schools off by taking control of them with school vouchers.
