Health Care

I can't help but laugh at Obama's claims that cutting Medicare spending will make the program better for seniors. As if Obama could wave a magic wand and that money would only come from waste, not from actual coverage. Romney and Ryan are correct in attacking Obama for cutting Medicare. It's true, and it buys them votes. But Obama is cutting Medicare in another way, and Romney and Ryan can't make that case. Obama denied cost of living increases in 2010 and 2011, and he's only allowing a 3.6 cost of living increase in 2012. But according to shadowstat.org, inflation averaged about 9 percent over those years. That's a 29.5 percent increase in prices over three years, but Obama has allowed only a 3.6 percent cost of living increase. So Obama is also cutting Medicare by limiting COLA while Bernanke inflates like a wild man. He's cutting Social Security the same way. Of course Republicans will do the same.
