Free kibbles

Alarmist headline says "Retail sales plunge 2.7 percent in December". Plunge. Like a 2.7 percent drop is jumping off a cliff. It's a market correction. Sure, it's painful, but we have to go through it to repair the damage done by government's loose monetary policy, subprime mortgage policy, bankruptcy policy, and income tax policy. I'm sick and tired of politicians, newspapers, and con men like Al Gore using alarmism to harm Americans and America.

Sec. of State to be Clinton to engage Iran and Syria. Democrats undermined Bush's efforts to stop Iran from building nuclear weapons, and as a result, now they own the problem. Be careful what you wish for. I'm sure Clinton and Obama's charm will change the mad Mullahs' minds.

Here we go again. Liberals are trying to redefine torture down to include benign techniques like sleep deprivation and exposure to cold. I'm sure these techniques create great discomfort. I get uncomfortable when I don't sleep and I'm cold. I remember my dad working for days at a time during and after blizzards to get power turned back on. I'm sure he was cold and tired. Prolonged exposure weakens the body, mind and spirit. That's what they're supposed to do. And once the guy talks, he's gets to sleep in a nice warm bed, and he's fine. What's the problem?

After it was discovered his nominee for Treasury Secretary had failed to pay taxes, the Senate postponed his confirmation hearing.

Israel has killed more than a 1000 Gazans in this assault. That's an amazingly low number. I know it's horrific for the people who died and their families, but for the amount of time and force Israel has applied in an attempt to defend itself from Hamas and in the most densely populated place on earth, the casualties are impressively low. Hamas says it would accept a week long cease fire if Israel withdrew. Of course it would. That would give them a cease fire until Obama takes office and puts pressure on Israel. Now is the time for Israel to press its advantage, not withdraw, but this offer will put lots of pressure on Israel to accept a cease fire. I hope Israel resists until it completes its mission to disarm Hamas of rockets.

Letterman's top 10 Bush moments.

Liberals says what liberals always say - taxes will have to be raised. There is no tax level that's enough for liberals. Once they take 100 percent of our paychecks, they'll still want more. I'm sure Obama will defer to the liberals in Congress and agree.

Unions create multi-million dollar campaign to pressure balking Democrats into passing card check.

Democrats to seat Blagojevich nominee Burris tomorrow. Democrats' display of outrage over Blago's corruption was entertaining but as phony as a 3 dollar bill. Unfortunately, I'm sure liberals will remember the display and think Democrats are tough on corruption for years to come.

Obama planning Lincoln theme inaugeration. I guess he's planning to start a civil war.

Reason explains that failing pension plans will be the next big financial crisis, possibly as early as this year.
