Free kibbles

Obama is assembling a super-cabinet, bypassing cabinet leaders, hoarding more power to himself. We wouldn't want any of those pesky checks and balances to get in the way of the Obamasation of America. The parallels to communism and fascism from the man the media and liberals tried to tell us was moderate are unmistakable. This is the next evolutionary step in the centralization of power along the road to serfdom and totalitarianism. This should frighten every American.

Citi and Democrats (why did Democrats need Citi?) agree to a deal that allows bankruptcy judges to rewrite contracts. You got to be kidding me. Every pillar of freedomm, like sanctity of contracts, that enabled America to become the greatest country on earth is being destroyed by our government. If Citi wants to renegotiate contracts, it should do so without government intervention.

Hezbollah, Hamas's big brother in southern Lebanon, fired missiles into Israel. You knew Hezbollah wouldn't remain on the sidelines indefinitely. This is why before any peace plan can be implemented in the Middle East, both Hezbollah and Hamas must be disarmed. Israel warned it was ready to fight a second front against Hezbollah. It might have to prove it. Hezbollah denies involvement. Maybe Hezbollah is splitting, which would be a great thing. UN Security Council, highlighting just how impotent the UN is, calls for immediate Gaza truce. On what grounds? With what conditions? How will they enforce their godlike decree? Hamas would listen if the UN threatened to cut off welfare, but why would Israel?

Boortz reports the FairTax bill, H.R. 25, has more cosponsers than ever, and reminds us that the FairTax is a $13 trillion economic stimulus because it would bring $13 trillion that is overseas escaping our punishing tax code back to the US. And don't forget 400 fortune 500 companies would open their next plant in the US, the other 100 would move their headquarters to the US, if we adopted the FairTax. And none of that is controlled by the corrupt politicians who created this economic crisis.

The porn industry is demanding a federal bailout. They'll use the money to create jobs for hardworking Americans. As funny as this sounds, it's not funny at all. This is our fault. We empowered the corrupt aristocrats that made all this happen. We've been empowering them for a century, and we're still empowering them today.

Henry Waxman slips and informs that SCHIP is really just a trojan horse for socialized medicine.

Obama continues to pretend he's going to control spending, and the press keeps publicizing this red herring. Obama will cut 1 or 2 dollar here and there while increasing spending 1 or 2 trillion dollars all over the place. And the press will continue to pretend Obama is a fiscal conservative.

Continuing the tax cut charade, Senate Democrats are unhappy with Obama's one-time tax credits. There's some merit to this. One time tax credits and gimmicks don't change people's behavior, so they're ineffective at stimulating the economy. I'm sure the recipients will be happy to have more money, but it won't stimulate the economy. But quit calling them tax cuts.

I imagine that a McCain-Feingold collaberation to limit earmarks will be as unconstitutional and bad for America as thier collaberation to limit freedom of political speech.

Ann Coulter takes on Matt Lauer and Brain Williams after NBC changed its course and let her on the Today show.

So the same Congressman who so egregiously played the race card in the press conference in which Blagojevich nominated Barack Obama's successor, now accuses the senate of racism. It's controlled by Democrats, so that makes sense to me.

Joe the Plumber to be a war correspondent. He isn't letting go of his 15 minutes of fame.

Because of all the Muslims in Denmark, schools are telling Jewish parents not to enroll their children in schools. This is an obvious acquiescence to violence. Europe is falling apart before our eyes.

As if central planning at the national level hasn't been destructive enough, Sarkozy, Merkel, and Blair call for central planning at the international level. Hell no. Every socialist who pretends to be just a liberal in the world is trying to exploit this crisis to gain more power for the aristocrats.

Because the sun is entering a period of lower activity, astronauts unprotected by the earth's magnetic field would risk greater danger from cosmic rays. But Al Gore will tell you a puny thing like the sun could never affect climate on earth. Only powerful influences like SUVs can.

Excellent interview with Sarah Palin. Even though the interviewer says he's a fan (more like fanboy), this is by far the most objective interview I've seen because the interviewer, after he asks a question, just lets her answer. That's what interviewers are supposed to do, isn't it? It seems to be a lost art.

Another domino falls in the US government's irresponsible spending spree - China balks at purchasing more US debt. Reality is a b****.

Detroit, which has the biggest education bureaucracy of any school district in America, elementary school is requesting toilet paper and light bulbs so it can continue operation. The terrible experiment with government monopoly on schools has failed. We can't continue to allow government to destroy the education of our children and our future. These bureaucratic monstrosities must be abolished in favor of private schools.

After vocally declaring they wouldn't seat Blagojevich's nominee Burris, Democrats quietly change position. Contrary to reports that Harry Reid and senate Democrats misstepped, I think they made exactly the right move for them. They loudly faked concern about corruption, which is now ingrained in the public consciousness, when they really don't care because they're all just as corrupt. So it's business as usual, but they fooled the people into thinking they're fighting corruption. It was a well orchestrated charade powered by their allies in the mainstream media.

Security for inauguration day looks more like something you'd see in the Soviet Union than in America.

Beanie Wells is heading to the NFL. Who can blame him. As injury prone as he is, he can't risk staying in college. On the flip side, no NFL team should take him with a high draft pick. He's not dependable.

Obama claims he will spend our money wisely. Like Obama is smarter than all of us combined. It's not possible that government, even run by the Messiah, can spend our money more wisely than we can. It's just stunning that liberals fall for this bull****. And that conservatives fall for it when Republicans say similar things. Cato explains that big government money always breeds corruption. That said, our already destructively corrupt government is about to get way more corrupt.

Detailed essay by Mises scholar explains the problems of central banks and inflationary monetary policy. Sound money - free-market money tied to a standard - is the remedy.

Mises scholar exposes Obama nominee Cass Sunstein for being a totalitarian in libertarian clothes. He advocates a position he calls libertarian paternalism, in which the state determines what people really want, but aren't smart enough to figure out for themselves. I shouldn't be surprised that radical liberals are co-opting and trying to redefine the word libertarian to suit their own ends - it's their modus operandi - but I'm disgusted anyway.
