Free kibbles

Bush the Elder pushes for Bush the Next Youngest to run for president. I've had enough Bushes, Kennedys, and Clintons to last my entire life. Screw this hereditary rule crap. I wish they would all crawl under rocks and rot.

Congress opens intense session because last session's do-nothing Democrat Congress refused to pass budget measures and they're trying to push through a new New Deal in a week.

It looks like Israel has a well developed plan for Gaza, as they've cut Gaza in half and surrounded a border city.

Harry Reid changed his tune today, signaling he may sit Blagojevich's nominee to replace Barack Obama. This will lend credibility to Blago, and since Harry Reid is already considered scum by most Americans - even his own senate seat is in jeopardy - it won't hurt Reid. Now we see that Democrats' outrage over the Blago corruption was phony from the beginning. Blago is the norm in politics, not an exception, especially in Illinois. Blago was just doing what all politicians do - selling political favors for personal gain. Now that the media frenzy is dying down, Reid is back to politics as usual himself.

Bill Richardson withdraws himself from Commerce Secretary designate because he's being investigated for trading contracts for campaign contributions. This is what US politics is. Politics in the US is corruption. Obama hasn't even been inaugurated yet, and he's already involved in 3 corruption scandals, Richardson, Blago, and Hu. He's trying to outperform Clinton in the corruption department, which is going to be tough, but he's off to a great start. Who would've predicted that a radical leftist thug who cut his teeth with ACORN and rose to the top in the corrupt Chicago machine would be tainted by corruption? Oh wait. I did. Obama is the focal point for the Democrats culture of corruption. At least Richardson did the honorable thing and resigned. That's very unusual for Democrats.

Article claims that 40 percent of Obama's stimulus package, $310 billion, is tax cuts, but then goes on to describe a hodgepodge of temporary income tax tricks and credits, not rate reductions. It's well known that one time credits and temporary tax reductions don't change people's behavior and therefore don't stimulate the economy. This is another flavor of big government boondoggle.

Mises scholar describes how the Nazis interference in the German economy, based on a credit crisis, led to the effective nationalization of their economy. He also draws the parallels to FDR and the New Deal, which was based on the same Keynesian philosophy as the Nazis and Bush's and Obama's, Republicans' and Democrats' interventions in our economy. The parallels to what we're experiencing right now are spooky.
