Free kibbles

Homeland Security, already a bloated, unaccountable bureaucracy, wants to create a new office to share domestic spy satellite data with local law enforcement. Why are we using satellites to spy on regular Americans. I can understand using them to track suspected terrorists in the US, but to spy on people in general should not be allowed.

We are reaping what we've sown with government intervention in the markets. Fed direct loans to banks are record level. Why should banks, or any financial institution any more, care about keeping money on hand and staying solvent? The Fed will take care of them. We're all paying for the irresponsibility government has encouraged in our markets.

Zimbabwe schedules run-off election for June 27. US ambassador to Zimbabwe reports political violence is out of control and that the scheduled run-off election will be unfair because of it.

Oil passes $127. Saudi Arabia refuses to raise oil production despite Bush's begging. That's what we're reduced to since Congress won't let us drill for oil in the US or build nuclear or coal power plants. And our financial policies are the primary factor driving up prices, not OPEC. But Saudi Arabia could help us out.

Top ex-cop and security man for New York politicians commits suicide instead of answering questions about corruption. The corruption factories win another one.

Reason is wrong about McCain's vision for the Iraq war. There's no doubt that McCain was being perfectly honest when he said he envisioned the Iraq war being won by 2013, and most American troops being home by then. There's no doubt in my mind that that is possible if the entire nation and both parties committed themselves to victory in the that time. We would be much further along if the entire nation had been committed to victory all along. I said before we invaded that that it would take 10 years to transform Iraq. 2013 is 10 years, and we can still meet that goal if we unite as a nation to do so.

Out one side of his mouth, Obama proudly proclaims he would rather talk to terrorists than kill them, and out the other he says he would be just as tough on terrorists as Bush or McCain. Talking is not tough. Killing them is tough. Obama wants it both ways, but Americans won't fall for it.

Obama is so self-centered, he thought Bush's comments about appeasement were targeted at him, when in fact they were directed at Carter who just when and coddled Hamas a couple weeks ago in spite of being asked not to by the administration. Obama has stepped in it.

Analysis of Hillary Clinton's failure. Both Hillary and Obama have run terrible campaigns, but the press covered up for both of them along the way and Democrats are so focused on gender and race, they don't care about the overwhelming weaknesses of the candidates and their positions.

It's an emotional story for a double-amputee to enter the Olympics. That he's overcome such a traumatic loss and recovered to compete in the Olympics is a wonderful, feel good story. But is it fair to the other contestants? This man's heart doesn't have to pump as hard as his competitors. His prostheses are designed specifically for his sport, unlike his competitors. The science of prostheses has advanced to the point where we have to consider whether they are a handicap or an advantage.

The pork and subsidy laden farm bill that Cato calls welfare for the rich has passed both houses with veto-proof majorities. Republicans continue to vote just like Democrats, and that's why they're going to lose more seats in November. If everybody in Congress is going to act like a Democrat, we might as well just vote Democrat. In this suicide of America post, this liberal pointed out that the major difference between totalitarian states and the US is the number of political parties, 1 versus 2. We don't have 2 in the US, we just Democrats and Democrats-lite.

Cato says that same-sex marriage rulings by states do not have to be recognized by other states. I thought federal law required states to recognize the marriages of other states (which it shouldn't). I hope Cato is right.

Activist organization blames obesity for all society's ills. That's pretty harsh, but obese people do eat more, use more fuel, and require more health care. Obesity is driving the rapid increase in diabetes. Cato says the obesity epidemic is exaggerated. But there's an easy solution to the obesity problem - get rid of the health care subsidies and 3rd party payer systems. When people pay for their own health care, they'll stay healthier.

Since many people care about CO2 emissions, the free market is providing technology to limit them, but that hasn't stopped Congress from considering a bill to limit CO2 that would cost hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Explanation of the consequences of listing the polar bears as an endangered species because of reduced habitat from global warming. This is crazy. You can bet the Marxists posing as environmentalists will pick small, isolated targets to sue first, trying to set precedent without much resistance. This is scary.

Jews in and out of Israel are falling victim to demographics because they aren't replacing themselves.

A consortium of evil corporations is conspiring to make jet fuel out of algae. Evil corporations. Since Biden recognizes that our foreign policy is held hostage by OPEC, why doesn't he convince Democrats to allow drilling in ANWR and off Florida, and also to allow companies to build nuclear and coal power plants?

Newspaper apologizes for publishing false story. Of course it was a sports story. Funny how that gets a front page apology, but all the false political stories never get corrected. Maybe the mainstream media will catch on and start apologizing for all their inaccurate, biased stories.
