Free kibbles

Illustrating just how much harm has been done to the health of Americans by 3rd party payer health insurance systems, over half of all insured Americans take medicine for chronic health problems. The solution to this is for Americans to pay for their own health care. When that happens, they'll stay healthier, demand will drop, and prices will drop as well.

300 illegal aliens arrested in meat packing plant raid in Iowa. Americans will fill those jobs in no time. Hopefully for a new company which buys the plant after the original company is shut down.

Coming soon to a US city near you: London police to employ metal detecting wands and airport scanners on streets to cut down on knife crime.

Iran turns the tables, accusing the US and Britain of supporting terrorists who bombed a mosque in Iran. This is a great PR move by them, and it might well be true. We support rebels in Iran. The ideology of the war on terror is basically a support of government power, it doesn't differentiate between good and bad governments, no matter how evil the government, because the actions of rebels against any government are labeled terrorism. Any covert action is labeled terrorism.

First, terrorists explode bombs in India. Then India accuses Pakistan troops of breaking truce in Kashmir. It looks like the new Pakistani government is leading to increased tensions with India, which puts us in a bad position. We want both countries as allies.

Palestinians fire rocket into Israeli mall. But if Israel hunts down and kills those terrorists, the world will be outraged.

US drugged detainees for deportation.

Government accounting practices make it appear that inflation isn't as bad as it really is.

Reason calls the new farm bill welfare for the wealthy.

Reason on the intersection of science, morality, and religion surrounding embryonic stem cells.

Republicans lose solid seat in Mississippi. They made it easy for conservative Democrats to appear less liberal than Republicans. Why in the world would Republicans think a slime like Trent Lott would help their candidate? Republican's problems stem from behaving like Democrats, and Trent Lott was one of the worst. And Cheney's just a surrogate for Bush the Democrat.

Democrats propose a tax surcharge on millionaires. You can't return America to a trajectory of greatness by pitting groups of Americans against each other. Policies have to benefit all Americans.

Obama holds off Edwards' endorsement announcement to control the news after Clinton's thrashing of him in West Virginia.

Ron Paul is finally getting a little, very little, but still a little, respect. Both Republican and Democrat pundits say McCain must reach out to Ron Paul on the GOP platform and give him a prim speaking slot at the convention. This is why Paul stayed in the race, and it may work out yet. Republicans are realizing the threat they face for their abandonment of libertarians.

NASA Phoenix spaceship to land on Mars today.

Info about the strategic petroleum reserve.

Walter Williams explains how government interference in markets creates the very problems that government then proposes to solve with ever-more interference, creating ever more problems. The subprime crisis, the high cost of energy, and rising food costs were all created by government.

Boortz provides the statistics on the absurd subsidies used to promote wasteful, inefficient alternative energy, and highlights that all these green jobs politicians are promising are going to cost taxpayers even more for inefficient, wasteful energy.

US soldier gets prosthetic legs for Iraqi girl. It's this kind of kindness, values and generosity that is winning the war.

There's nothing new or emerging about government handouts.

Cato applauds ending increases to the strategic oil reserve, and goes further to call for ending the reserve altogether.

Cato calls our bureaucratic red tape restricting Iraqi translators from coming to the US after their brave support for the mission in Iraq a betrayal.

Games with a purpose - gathering data to help programmers solve computer problems.

Hooray for Taco Bell's dollar menu.

Lizard population moved to new island quickly evolved to its new environment through natural selection.

Electronic cigarette with all of the good aspects of cigarettes and none of the bad.

This doctor makes an excellent case for free market health care and against socialized medicine. I wonder if he's reading my essays. The copyright is 2000, so I guess he beat me to it.

Marc Dann caved and resigned as Ohio AG. I'm sure Democrats, especially Gov. Strickland, are breathing sighs of relief.

Interesting solar-thermal generators. It's looks like this company has planned for modularity to allow large scale plants, but I wonder about the efficiency in wind. Alignment seems crucial to being efficient, and the towers will sway in the wind, and all those mirrors will move too. (I noted the low profile aspect of the mirrors). How come a bunch Hollywood types don't invest in companies like this? Good for Google for doing it.
