Free kibbles

FBI withdraws National Security Letter for library records after court battle. President Bush should have to personally sign off on these. And how many months does it take to get a warrant anyway? The whole point of avoiding the warrant is because it takes too much time in dangerous, time sensitive circumstance to get a warrant. But if the FBI has time to fight the NSL for months, it certainly has time to get a FISA warrant.

New York police arrest family and friends of unarmed man slain by police the night before his wedding, who were subsequently acquitted, for protesting and blocking traffic.

Iraqi forces report capturing the head of al Qaeda in Iraq. Let's hope so. Let's verify it's him and start waterboarding him ASAP to roll up his entire operation.

One day after his hand picked successor is sworn in as president, Putin is confirmed as new Russian Prime Minister. Russia expels 2 US military attaches.

Israel celebrates 60th anniversary.

Beirut racked by strikes and roadblocks. Maybe Hezbollah will be too busy in Lebanon to bomb Israel today. Hezbollah threatens war on Lebanon. Now how stupid does it look for Lebanon and the world to have allowed Hezbollah to exit and rearm itself after the last time it attacked Israel? Lebanon should team up with Israel and wipe Hezbollah out, but obviously that will never happen.

North Korea turns over documentation from the decrepit Pyongyang nuclear reactor. This is another small step in the process with North Korea. That info is basically meaningless on its own.

Both Republican and Democrat leaders promote farm bill full of bloated subsidies.

Top Clinton fundraisers acknowledge she has lost the nomination. Ed Koch has the guts to say Obama can't win in November, and to urge Hillary to continue.

Navy releases John McCain's war record. Obama is toast. McCain promises to fight evil. I wonder if he was holding a cross when he said it. I wonder if Obama will attack him for his anti-evil position. McCain wants to offer incentives to states to drill for oil. Can't they create they're own incentives? Tax the oil however they want? It's ridiculous that Florida and California politicians are blocking drilling for oil off the coasts.

Obama promises to raise CEO taxes and allow the Bush tax cuts to expire. The candidate of change wants to take us back to the 70s.

California superdelegate wants $20 million to register Mexican-Americans in the southwest before committing to a candidate. It seems to me that Democrats would already have a movement going to register Mexican-Americans. This sounds more like a demand for a bribe.

Ron Paul supporters plan to create gated community. It's a great dream to open a community dedicated to the founding ideals of America, freedom and personal responsibility, but it's futile. Federal and state governments won't allow it. You still have to pay punishing income taxes and ask permission for just about everything.

NASA scientist build $4 million space probe. That's 100 times cheaper than the typical NASA space probe.

Study of tasers by Taser finds tasers are safe. What a shocker.

Author agrees with Clinton that we can use US courts to break up OPEC, a cartel of nations. He's nuts. Liberals don't only want us to be the world's policemen, they want us to be the world's justice system too.

The interesting part of the drug bust at San Diego State isn't what the cops did, it's how pervasive the drug culture is. The War on Drugs has failed. End it before it can do any more damage to America and the world.

Thank goodness Bush is threatening to veto the $300 billion bailout package for home buyers who can't or won't make the payments on their home. Where was the veto pen the first 6 years? Cato explains that this bill would rewrite contracts, punish taxpayers and responsible homeowners, and reward irresponsible buyers.

Cato thinks McCain considers the First Amendment a mistake and an obstacle to national greatness.

Cato fingers South Africa for propping up Zimbabwean President Mugabe over the years and enabling him to stay in power now.

Maryland judge tells Muslim he can't divorce his wife simply by saying "I divorce thee" three times. A victory for the rule of law.

NBC busted using fake footage of penguins in story about global warming at the North Pole.

Jonah Goldberg points out how anything negative the Clintons say about Obama, such as his drug use, gets twisted by the press and the Obama campaign as playing the race card. But the Clintons are just reaping what they sowed in the 90s. Just imagine how often the press is going to scream racism against Republicans in the general election.

10 Republicans voted with Democrats for a $300 million mortgage bailout bill. It rewards irresponsible financial companies and home buyers, while putting taxpayers on the hook for the bad loans. And people complain about their wages. Wages aren't the problem - think how well off you would be if you kept 100% of your paycheck. Government is the problem both sticking its nose in the economy and sucking our tax dollars out of the economy and racking up debt on our behalf.

Amanda Carpenter hints at the implications of Bill Clinton earning megamillions by giving speeches in foreign countries, then injecting that money into Hillary's campaign. I'm sure those foreign countries are thrilled with the way their money is being used to influence our politics.

Democrats energy plan is described as "Tax, Sue, and Investigate."

An Coulter says the polls show that Bill Clinton sank Hillary. I bet he campaigns for Obama too.

Analyst thinks Barack Obama's demographic support is the same as Kerry's, only weaker. We have no way to know how that will project into the general election.

And they say conspiracy are nuts. Check out this corruption. A congressman provided a $1 million earmark to an organization in 2005, and that organization used the money to lobby Congress for a massive federal land grab bill from the same congressman that's now an amendment in the Farm Bill. Our tax dollars used to hire lobbyists to lobby for a bill that squashes the property rights of landowners in a huge swath of land. Our tax dollars are being used in a magnification scheme to erase our freedom at an ever accelerating rate.

Thomas Sowell contrasts the work ethic and the pride of the past with the victimization ideology of Barack Obama, Rev. Wright, and modern liberals.

Walter Williams highlights the overwhelming mistaken predictions of doomsday by environmentalists in the recent and not so recent past. But true believers jump on board anyway.

Author suggests that since containment worked with the Soviet Union and China, it will work with Iran. I don't agree. I think the Iranian leaders, certainly Ahmadinejad, would be very happy having their whole country and themselves obliterated in a retaliatory strike. Containment was the best course against Saddam, but not Iran. But we shouldn't invade Iran either. It's not the war itself that's so expensive. It's the nation building, and we shouldn't do it in Iran.

Western Europe is electing conservative after conservative.
