"Whaley has received 4,965 votes, and Wagner came in second with 2,566 votes. Mayor Gary Leitzell lost with 2,338 and will not advance to the November election."This election is a travesty. Only 9,869 votes were cast. According to Wikipedia, the 2011 population estimate for Dayton is 142,148. That means less than seven percent of Dayton citizens selected our mayoral candidates. That means over 93 percent of Dayton's citizens reject the system. Probably the only thing worse than having majority mob rule with all its self-proclaimed legitimacy is to have minority mob rule with the same self-proclaimed legitimacy.
At least the DDN mentions the small turnout.
"The last time Dayton had a May runoff vote for mayor was 2005, when only 14,465 people voted — roughly one-tenth of the city's population."The rejection of the system is much higher now.
Oakwood levy passes, but no vote counts are reported.
Harrison Twp. levies passes, but no vote counts are reported.
West Carrollton tax levy passes, but no vote counts are reported.
Beavercreek tax levy fails, but no vote counts are given.
"City voters Tuesday defeated for a third time a city income tax — this one a 1.5 percent earned income tax — that proponents said was needed to repair roads and bridges, offset cuts in state money and refurbish its parks and city buildings."So when voters reject new taxes, instead of firing parasitc bureaucrats and cutting counter-productive government programs, politicians come back every year, year after year, demanding more stolen money. We can't win. Beavercreek's rulers are trying to pass this levy for the fourth time.
Fairborn school levy fails, but no vote counts are given.
"There’s a “high probability” Fairborn will have to borrow money from the state, likely in the fall, Beavers said, and voters could see another emergency levy — with a higher millage — on the November ballot."So when voters reject new taxes, instead of firing parasitic bureaucrats, politicians force new, higher taxes on them in the future. We can't win.
Another fake bomb scare at a school, this time in Clayton.
Another bogus bomb scare at Dayton aviation park. I can't wait until we have to call the bomb squad out to chase every shadow.
Police and SWAT teams called because an 18 year old is despondent in a house with firearms. He will be given a mental health evaluation. This is the unholy intersection between police, health care and the right to keep and bear arms. You don't own yourself. You don't own your property. You don't your firearms. Everything belongs to the government. If this happened to me or any other reasonable person, they'd refuse to cooperate too. I don't know anything about the young man, but our system is insane.
"The suspect will undergo a mental evaluation and has not had any charges pressed against him at this time, said police, but he could face charges of inducing panic."You can't make this stuff up.
Four Miami County school levies pass, no vote counts reported.
