Free kibbles

US charges 6 Guantanamo detainees for 9/11. These trials should be cathartic. You can't help but wonder if the timing is intended to give Republicans a boost during the campaign by bringing 9/11 front and center in the American consciousness.

Intercepted communications from al Qaeda in Iraq show they are on the verge of destruction. But they can still mount small suicide attacks. Despite the disintegration of al Qaeda in Iraq and the dramatic reduction in violence, Nancy Pelosi calls the surge a failure. I guess if you're a Democrat, our success in Iraq is a failure for you.

DC and NYC police increase crime cameras.

The Archbishop of Canterbury defends his comments promoting separate Sharia courts for Muslims. This isn't the first time he's taken a decidedly anti-British stance. Hopefully this will spark the Brits to stand up and take action to protect their culture against his advice.

Exorcisms becoming more popular in Europe. The natural reaction to the Islamification of Europe will be for Christianity to rebound. We're going to see a genetic war in Europe, masked as a religious war, between Europeans and Muslim immigrants, much like the genetic war we're going to have in the US between Americans and Hispanic immigrants if we don't stop illegal immigration.

I'm all for armed guards on flights from Europe, but there's no way we should allow the government to collect information on families of fliers. EU officials furious. We can count on Bush to make the US an even greater pariah. Cato says it's makes sense to have travelers identify themselves 48 to 72 hours in advance. I agree, but asking for info on family members is over the top.

Chavez threatens to cut off oil to US if Exxon wins a court decision to get back the property Chavez seized. He says Exxon will never again rob them. Exxon puts billions of dollars of investment into developing Venezuelan oil, creating jobs and wealth in Venezuela, and Chavez calls that robbery. Then he seizes the billions of dollars of Exxon investment. That's robbery.

The Electoral College is one of the last institutions that promote state's rights. The federal government has usurped far too much power from the states as it is. We need to keep the Electoral College and empower State legislatures to elect Senators so we can reestablish state's rights in America.

Citizen-initiated grand jury in Kansas investigates abortion crimes.

Record cold in Minnesota, and it's bitter cold here. How come Al Gore hasn't blamed the cold on global warming yet?

Britain backs down from requiring athletes to keep silent about the Chinese government, but China claims that Olympic rules prevent political acts, which in China means speaking out.

Reason explains that this election may not be polarized by red/blue.

Glen Country, Georgia car dealers cited for displaying American flags on their property.

Obama wins Maine. Obama a messiah figure. It's not policies that people like.

Google mobile phone software.

Cato explains that our defense budget is heavy on ships and fighter planes instead of the tools we need to fight terrorists. They ignore that we also have to respond to belligerent China and Russia. But because of the excellent service of our servicemen, we've put the military on a pedestal to our detriment. While our troops are the best ever, the military itself is a bloated, wasteful bureaucracy, our procurement system is wasteful, and there is not enough competition between vendors. We must restructure the military bureaucracy so we can continue to develop the best weapons and field the best army while keeping cost flat.

Cato shows that surveillance cameras don't necessarily reduce crime. I'm sure they make life easier on cops and prosecutors, but the cost is decreased freedom and increased corruption.

American households in the top 20 percent by income — those making at least $150,000 a year — account for about 40 percent of overall consumer spending, which makes up two-thirds of economic activity.
OMG. Our liberal universities are churning out indoctrinates like Jasmine Wetherel. She lambastes Ron Paul. We read about how far left liberalism has taken over campuses, but this is crazy.

The WSJ exposes some of the anti-freedom legislation being sponsored by Clinton and Obama. How unAmerican is "comparable worth" and "economic non-discrimination"? Employers can hire who they want and pay what they want based on what the market supports. Employees can take whatever job they prefer based on market forces as well. That's called freedom. I'm sure this article is designed to influence conservatives to vote for McCain, but the legislation is what it is. It's amazing to me that the 3 major candidates in our presidential race don't care 1 iota about freedom between them. Maybe we should strike "the land of the free, and the home of the brave" from the National Anthem.

Boortz and Linder's new book, FairTax: the Truth, comes out tomorrow. I preordered mine a month ago or so. I'm still amazed how easy to read, informative, and entertaining the first book was. I read it in a day as I ran around town on errands. I hope this one is as accessible.

I can't wait for Hillary and her tears to disappear from our lives.

Teachers unions are bad for education in Pakistan too.

I do not believe that Obama would be assassinated if he became president. That didn't happen in 2000, and isn't due again until 2020. This comment shows remarkable intolerance.

Court rules that fast food employees must be polite to the blind. What? How about "the land of the polite, and the home of the protected". I just don't like the sound of it or the implications.

Anybody indoctrinated to be a suicide bomber as a child should be under strict supervision, not let loose in public schools. This should be treated as the dangerous mental health issue it is. What's the phrase? A danger to himself or others?

Boortz noticed that the word 'Islam' is not used in this article. The word 'Muslim' is used only twice. 17,000 UK Muslim women are subjected to honor violence, including murder. Authorities say the reported incidents are only the tip of the iceberg. I guess this is the kind of Sharia law that the Archbishop of Canterbury is recommending that Britain institutionalize for Muslims, separate from the law for everybody else. I can't imagine anything more self-destructive.
