Free kibbles

Bush budget plans to cut health care and hold domestic spending flat. Why didn't he do this 7 years ago? If he had done this 7 years ago, the cost of health care would have declined and we wouldn't have nearly as much of a tremendous debt. While I'm glad Bush has finally noticed that we're going broke and made some changes, he certainly isn't taking responsibility for his role in it. Maybe it finally occurred to him we can't fight the war on terror or check Russian and Chinese aggression if we're broke. This may not be too little, too late, but it's darn close if it isn't.

West Virginia considers gun lessons for school children? Is West Virginia starting a militia of schoolchildren? Unless so, this should be left to families. The government should have no role in this.

It looks like al Qaeda is fighting back in their own, sadistic way, against Maliki's commitment to finally wipe them out of Iraq. 2 female suicide bombers kill 72 at pet markets in Baghdad. These terrorists know no limit to evil, and Americans should be proud our troops are hunting them down and ending the murder and mayhem. US killed top al Qaeda leader in Pakistan.

Pakistan tests nuclear capable missile.

US jobs down in January.

Defense Sec. Gates begs for NATO to send more troops to Afghanistan to keep it from losing credibility. It's way too late for that. NATO is just a US welfare program to Europe. Cato fears NATO may not survive. I fear it will continue on as an expensive US welfare program that distorts the behavior of European nations from what would be in their best interest if they had to defend themselves. Like all welfare programs, NATO is damaging to the provider and the recipient.

Reason explains the problems with Real ID. Maybe the government should just tattoo numbers on our wrists.

The FEC puts restrictions on new movie called Hillary: The Movie that were never applied to Michael's Moore's Fahrenheit 911. Cato blames this on McCain-Feingold.

Senator wants to remove funding for Berkeley because they told the Marines they were unwelcome. Why is Berkeley getting money from the federal government? Or any other city (other than homeland security for a few places)? How about we just hand Berkeley over to China?

Reason wonders why anti-war independents keep voting for John McCain. I wonder why anybody votes for John McCain.

Look at these phony smiles on Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I guess they did their best to appear like they didn't want to tear each other's hearts out. They should get along great. They both have virtually identical policies to accelerate America's demise. It may be that the only way for the Democrats to heal the rift the Clintons caused by attacking Obama is to run them both on the ticket. I don't know how they could stand each other, but either way, each would benefit. Clinton from being the first female vice-president, and Obama the first black and a launching pad for a future campaign. The downside for Obama is that he would be slimed by the Clintons like Gore was.

This is too funny. Ann Coulter on Hannity and Colmes says she will campaign and vote for Hillary Clinton if John McCain gets the nomination. It's an entertaining and insightful scene. She really means it. This is hard evidence of how bad McCain, a liberal masquerading as a Republican, is for the country.

Navy tests most powerful railgun ever.

Has-been Microsoft wants to buy has-been Yahoo for $44.6 billion. It's possible combining could help the fortunes of both, but I doubt it. Google stock falls in response. I guess investors consider Microhoo a threat. I consider it a great buying opportunity.

Ann Coulter has a crush on Obama. That's funny.

In story about rising gas and heating oil prices, CNN features story on woman who just lost her job and is worried because money is tight. But that woman is going to buy a new TV, on discount of course.

South Carolina legislator realizes that if an 18 year old is mature enough to enlist in the army, fight, and die for his country, he's old enough to legally have a drink.

Special interest group ties to get Minneapolis to ban elephant rides, and managed to get the city council to waste its time on the issue. We should be lucky Congress wants to spend its time investigating important policy issues like NFL spygate and not something this trivial.

We should all be happy to learn that the government is taking $49 million from taxpayers by force to fund 140 programs in Chicago to fight homelessness. Because the Constitution grants the federal government power to take our money by force to fight homelessness in Chicago because homelessness in Chicago is of the major problems facing every American. Wait a minute. No it's not, and no it doesn't. I bet the government could build homes for all the homeless in Chicago for under $49 million. Anybody want to bet?

Britain is our big-government future if we don't take back this country for freedom. As if we weren't already being crushed under government. British mother faces a fine of up to 20,000 lb or 6 months in prison for throwing an apple core out the window of her car. This quote says it all:
Miss Badger is accused of "knowingly causing the deposit of controlled waste, namely an apple core, on land which did not have a waste management licence".
