Counting charity in addition to taxes, Romney paid 57.9 percent of his income in 2011.
Indictment of the debate process which the two parties took away from the League of Women Voters so they could control it.
"Here then, within this one process of structuring the presidential debates, we have every active ingredient that typically defines, and degrades, US democracy. The two parties collude in secret. The have the same interests and goals. Everything is done to ensure that the political process is completely scripted and devoid of any spontaneity or reality.Typical.
All views that reside outside the narrow confines of the two parties are rigidly excluded. Anyone who might challenge or subvert the two-party duopoly is rendered invisible.
Lobbyists who enrich themselves by peddling their influence run everything behind the scenes. Corporations pay for the process, which they exploit and is then run to bolster rather than threaten their interests. The media's role is to keep the discourse as restrictive and unthreatening as possible while peddling the delusion that it's all vibrant and free and independent and unrestrained. And it all ends up distorting political realities far more than illuminating them while wildly exaggerating the choices available to citizens and concealing the similarities between the two parties.
To understand the US political process, one can just look to how these sham debates are organized and how they function. This is the same process that repeats itself endlessly in virtually every other political realm."
Boortz summarizes Crowley's intervention on Obama's behalf.
"The issue between the candidates was whether or not Obama called the attack on the Benghazi consulate an act of terror the very next morning from the Rose Garden – before he headed to Las Vegas. Obama said he did. Romney said he didn’t. And then Candy Crowley felt compelled to step in and side with Obama --- and she was wrong. Obama did NOT say the attack on the consulate was a terrorist act. What he did say was that “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation.” Well, hopefully that’s right! But that was a statement of policy, not a description of what happened the night before in Benghazi. Obama clearly stopped short of calling THIS particular attack an act of terror. Sorry .. but that’s the way the English language works."Nice summary.
Democrats may have thought Biden won the VP debate, but a Pew poll shows independents preferred Ryan by an 11 point margin.
Online presidential debate with four candidates but not Obama or Romney.
"This debate is the only 2012 Presidential debate where the top six Presidential candidates have been invited to participate. Confirmed candidates include:I might watch this.
Gary Johnson, Libertarian Party | Jill Stein, Green Party | Virgil Goode, Constitution Party | Rocky Anderson, Justice Party
Unlike the “debates” between Romney and Obama, these candidates aren’t afraid to provide more than rehearsed talking points for answers. Our debate is sure to feature some heated exchanges and a wide array of viewpoints."
