Misc

Blasting FDR on the 80th anniversary of his speech calling Herbert Hoover a big spender.

Supreme narcissist and Napoleon wannabe Commissioner Roger Goodell recused himself from being judge, jury and execution of a couple of players and appointed former commissioner Paul Tagliabue to hear their appeals. When commissioner, Tagliabue understood that commissioners should remain behind the scenes because the NFL is better served by allowing players to be in the spotlight. Somebody, probably several somebodies, got to Goodell and shut him down. Good for them. But I doubt this will be a permanent condition. I still think in 5-10 years we will look back on this Napoleonic period of Goodell's as the start of the decline of the NFL.

Things for tin plated tyrant Napoleon Goodell just keep getting worse as a former player calls him a liar.
""The commissioner of the NFL recently distributed a memo to all 32 NFL teams regarding the alleged Saints bounty program that contained blatant lies about me, thereby adding me to the list of men whose reputations and character have been irreparably damaged by the shoddy, careless, shameful so-called investigation behind this sham proceeding," the statement read. "Roger Goodell identifies me as the 'whistleblower' who approached former Viking coach Brad Childress about an alleged bounty on Brett Favre in the NFC Championship Game."
Wow. This is fantastic. Let's hope Napoleon Goodell gets ousted over this. From now on that tin plated tyrant wannabe will be named Napoleon Goodell in this blog. The sooner he is ousted, the better. Maybe the most telling thing about this article is ESPN used the word liar, albeit as a proxy a former Vikings player. ESPN has supported and protected Goodell in his crusade against Saints players since this became an issue last spring. But suddenly ESPN is changing its tune. For the first time since this became an issue, they played a piece from the mid-90s about pay for pain. They could have played that piece six months ago or anytime in between. But they didn't. They could have published pieces about players calling Napoleon Goodell a liar during that time, but they didn't. Suddenly, Napoleon recuses himself on the same day that ESPN replays that old piece and publishes stories of players calling him a liar. I think Goodell is in big trouble. Apparently some owner are throwing him under the bus. I think he's fighting for his job.

Here's my email to Skip Oliva:
"I think Napoleon is in trouble. ESPN has been his biggest supporter since he declared war on the Saints, but suddenly, on the same day he recused his tin-plated tyrant self, ESPN ran a 15 year old story about pay for pain. I doubt that's coincidence. ESPN could have run that story six months ago, but it didn't. ESPN could have run stories in which players called Napoleon a liar six months ago, but they didn't. They did today. I think a number of owners are pissed at the narcissist tyrant, and he's fighting for his job by deferring to Tagliabue.

Good riddance if he goes."

Boys as well as girls are entering puberty earlier than they did decades ago. I have no idea why, but I'm going to go watch MTV because I don't want to think about it.
