A thorough yet readable analysis of why economic collapse is inevitable. It doesn't matter who wins the election. All that matters is who gets the blame when it happens. And that collapse is coming within the next four years. More likely in the next four months. The problem we have is Republicans lie about supporting economic freedom and free markets. Bush the Younger was one of the biggest enemies of economic freedom in US history, but because he lied and pretended to support capitalism, Democrats were able to blame capitalism for our economic problems. Bush the Younger, a socialist pretending to support capitalism, was the enabler of Barack Obama, a bigger socialist. Mitt Romney is new socialist pretending to support capitalism. If he wins the presidency, he and capitalism will be blamed for the economic collapse about to crash on us. If Obama wins reelection, he and socialism will be blamed for the economic collapse. Which ideology do you think should be blamed?
Maybe we should pay people to dig ditches, buy iphones and throw them in the ditches, then pay people to fill the ditches back in. We'd be so rich if we did that. I guess we don't have to be the complicated, we can choose to spend 100 times more for every iphone, then we'd be the richest people on earth. No wait. We'd be poorer. Krugman can't seem to tell the difference between consumption, which destroys wealth, and investment, which creates wealth and voluntary consumption versus spending funded by coercion.
