Economy

Jack Welch explains his skepticism of August's unemployment numbers.

While Obama's economy is making all the serfs poorer, Congressmen keep getting richer.

20 states report being in recession.
"By the way, GDP was growing at a 9.3% clip last time 873,000 jobs were added in a month. Today's GDP growth? 1.7%."
If it's too good to be true...

John Williams interviewed about the politicized unemployment statistics.
"Over time, you will find the better-quality statistics are confirming that we never had an economic recovery, and that we're not about to get one. When you have faulty numbers, you need to look at the underlying fundamentals to see what's happening. The problem is the consumer doesn't have the liquidity, either from the standpoint of income growth or credit availability, to sustain positive growth in the GDP."
No recovery at all.

In an article about ways to use pre-1965 quarters, because they are mostly silver, we get this insightful quote:
"“Corruptissima republica plurimae leges. [The more numerous the laws, the more corrupt the state.]“ -Tacitus, the Annals ca. AD 69"
There's no doubt about that.
"Across these ‘free’ nations, the law is selectively enforced, selectively applied, and completely set aside whenever it pleases the state. As such, even the most harmless of activities (operating a lemonade stand, collecting rainwater, etc.) can be cast as illegal… while the direct theft of people’s wealth through taxes and manipulation of the currency is considered legal."
No kidding.
