Free kibbles

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Indian court OKs banning popular social websites that won't agree to self-censorship.

ECONOMY:

Russian tanker teams with US Coast Guard ice-breaker to deliver fuel to iced-in Nome Alaska.
"There has been a lot of anxious waiting since the ship left Russia in mid-December. It picked up diesel fuel in South Korea before traveling to Dutch Harbor, Alaska, where it took on unleaded gasoline."
But everybody complains about globalism.

EDUCATION:

This article on criminalizing truancy is a good reminder that the government forces children to attend government schools at the point of a gun. Yet some people consider this a good thing.

HEALTH CARE:

Home Medicare program rife with fraud.
"The lack of oversight that allegedly led to the death of a 14-year-old girl with cerebral palsy is common in the multimillion-dollar Medicaid program designed to care for tens of thousands of disabled Ohioans in their homes, according to a Dayton Daily News investigation."
Who would have ever thought?

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Apparently this winter is ultra-harsh in Alaska. It's been mild here so far. The weather's unpredictable like that. I'm afraid we're going to some seriously harsh weather later this winter.

WAR:

The way the US government is crippling Iran and goading it into war is reminiscent of how FDR goaded Japan into war. Another depression. Another big war.

MISC:

Microsoft requires ARM systems bar running Linux. Microsoft must be really scared of Linux.
