RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS:

December gun sales set record.

It's a sad, sad commentary on our government that a widow suffering a home invasion had to call 911 to ask permission to shoot the home invaders.
""Well, you have to do whatever you can do to protect yourself," dispatcher Diane Graham responded. "I can't tell you that you can do that, but you do what you have to do to protect your baby.""
And the state sanctioned stooge wouldn't even give her the state's permission.
"In the end, McKinley fired a 12-gauge shotgun and killed Justin Shane Martin after he entered her residence, according to a Blanchard Police Department affidavit filed in court Wednesday. Martin was armed with a knife, authorities said."
That's a hero. The state had refused to offer permission, but she acted to save herself and her child anyway. It doesn't get more heroic than that.
"First Assistant District Attorney James Walters told CNN that McKinley will not be charged because she acted in self-defense."
Let's all bow down to the beneficent prosecutor for acknowledging this woman's natural right to defend herself and her baby. How many others have been prosecuted for doing the same?

TAX AND SPEND:

The Forbes 400 richest Americans have a combined net worth of $1.5 trillion. This year's federal deficit will be $1.2 trillion. Federal debt is over $15 trillion. So much for fixing our debt problem by taxing the rich.

HEALTH CARE:

Obama likes to pretend he hasn't raised taxes on the middle class. Therefore he's hidden his tax on tongue depressors from you.

Bolivians reject McDonalds. Maybe that's the place for ex-pats to move.

I have to take the alternative side on this story.
"Texas police have shot dead a 15-year-old boy carrying an air-powered pellet gun, saying he refused to lower the weapon in the wake of a classroom fight."
How were they to know the difference? This seems to me to be a reaction to aggression even though the weapon of aggression was fake. The respondents couldn't know.

POLITICS:

Big win for the establishment as Romney noses out Santorum in a virtual tie with Ron Paul coming in a close third. Bachmann withdraws, finally, and Perry might too.

Here's one reason Santorum might fade away:
"Nearly 60% of those who voted for Santorum said that their number ONE issue .. now we’re talking NUMBER ONE here … was abortion."
Single issue abortion voters won't win him the nomination.

Perry's establishment supporters call a meeting in Texas to form a consensus since Ron Paul did so well and Perry did poorly. This is a good example of how the establishment manipulates primaries to insure both parties nominate establishment candidates. The establishment would love to see this be a race between Romney and Santorum. They could pretend they were offering a real choice. But what choice is there? Both are very liberal, northeastern Republicans. Both have liberal, big government voting records that contradict their phony rhetoric. The establishment fears that win Paul doing so well, Romney and Santorum will split the establishment vote, enabling Ron Paul to be a king-maker, forcing the winner to make concessions to him. So they're trying to be king makers now.

Accusations of literal vote-buying, bribes, in Iowa. More suspicions of voter fraud in Iowa.

More insight into how the establishment manipulated the caucuses:
"Youth=change; elderly=status quo. The caucus last night was about nothing more than saving Iowa's first in the nation status. It is pretty bad when the registrars wear Romney or Santorum buttons. Sad."
I think Iowans made a mistake. If they rejected that manipulation, they could have been the vanguard that ushered in a new era in liberty.

All that vote-buying may be for naught. Apparently the Iowa caucuses are non-binding, and Ron Paul supporters stayed around and were voted as county delegates, which means Paul will end up with more delegates from Iowa at the Republican convention. It looks like Paul will end up with a majority of delegates. It pays to know the rules. This is a sign that Paul knows how to run an organization. It also shows the advantage of having truly committed supporters.

Paul polling strong second in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire has long been considered one of the most libertarian states in the union, though you couldn't tell it from past presidential primaries, but in the wake of Ron Paul's strong showing in Iowa, three New Hampshire newspapers have endorsed him.

Al Gore calls Ron Paul a silly candidate. This should give Paul a boost.

The top ten viral political videos of the year contains nothing from Ron Paul. I'm skeptical.

Thanks to Obama and his radical leftist allies, the number of people identifying as Democrats has fallen to an all time low.

On why the worst rise to the top.

Contrary to this article, the left doesn't fear conservatives. They welcome them as allies. Progressives know that all they have to do is pass some soul-sucking, government-expanding piece of legislation, and in a couple of years, conservatives will embrace it. Think income tax. Think the New Deal. Think Department of Education. At the time, conservatives railed against all. Today they defend all. This is why I predicted Republicans will not repeal Obamacare until the federal government collapses.

Conservatives are the greatest allies the leftists have ever enjoyed. Only in America has the so-called opposition party been so accommodating. We can thank the conservative media for much of that, but mostly we can thank conservatives themselves for living up to their self-absorbed name. Conservatives talk about smaller government in the same way club members exchange slogans. It doesn't mean anything because they always vote for big government Republicans. Conservatives are the champions of the status quo no matter how Marxist that status quo is. If you don't believe me, look at Marx's ten tenants to produce Marxism in a society, and you'll notice Republicans, and therefore the conservatives who vote for them, support them all.

If you myopically blame Obama for our problems, this is a great ad from his Republican partners in crime.

The same leftist media that destroyed Herman Cain with unsubstantiated attacks now attacks Iowa for being too white. Can you smell the hypocrisy?

MEDIA:

Murdoch appoints ex-News of the World editor as editor-in-chief of the New York Daily News. The News of the World went bankrupt over an eavesdropping scandal in Britain.

The USA Today calls the Republican race a two-way race in apparent ignorance of the delegate count and the New Hampshire polls. They wish.

MISC:

I'm skeptical about this claim that some new fly is killing off bees. Bees are already bouncing back. This isn't some biological weapon against bees.

What the hell is Nginx?
"Nginx over the past month has gained market share among all websites, whereas competitors Apache, Microsoft, and Google each lost share"
Why have I never heard of this before?

Wonder how she would have been treated if the entire incident wasn't recorded?
