Free kibbles

This Orly Taitz woman looks like a flake. I'm sure she's embattled, but if you want anybody to take you seriously, you can't melt down on the news. But her theory is certainly legitimate. For the sake of argument, assuming Obama had been born in Kenya, his mother made her life a lot easier by pretending he was born in Hawaii.

I'm sure Kim Jong Il loves being courted by Bill Clinton. He'll get something he wants out of this deal, and we'll all pay the price for it. North Korea has been tremendously successful at blackmailing us for years, and he doesn't even have a real nuclear threat yet. Imagine how successful his blackmail operation will be once Obama lets him fully develop that threat. Bill Clinton wins a pardon for US reporters. I'm happy for them, what a nightmare they must have lived, but I wonder what that cost us. I don't understand why anybody would take the risk of going to North Korea, or Iran, and risk getting arrested as a spy. And their personal risk shouldn't cost the rest of us anything to win their release. I wonder if they would have taken that risk if they had known the government wouldn't pay anything for their release. This looks like more moral hazard to me. I wonder what Hillary thinks about Bill upstaging her. The Wall Street Journal wonders about the price too.

In expert Democrat fashion, Obama belittles anti-health oppression protesters.

List of branches post office is considering closing.

It looks like the Large Hadron Collider was shoddily built. That's a government project for you.

I'm not optimistic about the Bengals either. It's going to be the same old story of an underachieving team that doesn't play hard, doesn't play with discipline and doesn't care if they lose. It's all about the paycheck. The team perfectly reflects Mike Brown.

Video of Obama, Frank and another Democrat explaining that they want to replace private health insurance with government run health insurance, contrary to what Obama is saying now.

Boortz points out how Obama and Pelosi changed the health care debate from health care to health insurance in an attempt to salvage the plan. Of course we all hate health insurance companies. Because they're the most regulated industry in the country, they answer to government first, employers second and us a distant third. Whenever government sticks its nose into our business, we end up last.

Britain's NHS refuses pain killing shots, leaving patients in pain. That's the lead Democrats and big government Republicans like Mitt Romney want us to follow.

The cash for clunkers program illustrates what's wrong with government health care and every other government wealth transfer program. People flock to the seemingly free money and programs always cost significantly more than initially predicted. In the end, we're all poorer. More on this failure and its implications for other programs from Michael Barone.
"Mind you, the government hasn't yet shelled out the $1 billion authorized for Cash for Clunkers. Dealers reduce the buyers' prices and have to apply to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the rebates and NHTSA — surprise, surprise — has only managed to process 23,000 of an estimated 250,000 applications. The checks, we are told, will be in the mail. Oh, there's another problem. The dealers are required to destroy the clunkers, which will reduce the supply and increase the price of spare parts for those low-income folks who can't afford to trade their clunkers in even with a $4,500 subsidy. So much for helping the poor."
Supporters call this an overwhelming success. It would have been cheaper just to have covert agents blow up the clunkers. That would have destroyed less wealth because the tax to pay for it would have been less, and there would have been no cost for transfering resources from naturally profitable businesses to the to artificially stimulated auto business.

Hugo Chavez shutting down radio stations. Democrats are trying to do the same thing with their minority broadcasting agenda.

Western intelligence agencies believe that Iran has mastered the technology to build and detonate a nuclear bomb. Yikes!

Obama's staff is laying the groundwork for raising taxes on the middle class.

Even the New York Times acknowledges that Obama will have to tax the middle class to pay for all his plans. Why didn't they tell us that before the election?

Proving once again that government money is poison, bridges in need of repair are being ignored in favor of simple projects to satisfy Obama's stimulus boondoggle.

Lord Geithner says unemployment may not peak until the second half of 2010. Unemployment is the real measure of recession. Stock prices, commodity prices, GDP, etc. can all be manipulated by monetary policy, and Bernanke is creating that illusion of a recovery right now.

Dayton experienced the second coolest July on record. I was telling people it was the coolest July I'd ever experienced, and now I have official proof. I was in Texas in July 1984.

Obama's escalation of government's war on the poor.
