Free kibbles

The Taliban has gained the upper hand in Afghanistan according to top US commander, so even though they pose no threat to the US, more US troops will die fighting them. Get our troops out of there and let the Afghanis chose their own path. Pentagon disagrees. I trust the commander on the ground over the bureaucrats at the Pentagon.
"Top brass are insisting that despite the sharp rise in casualties in July and an expectation of more bloody months ahead the war is not taking a turn for the worse."
The surge in Iraq was against al Qaeda. Al Qaeda is not threatening Afghanistan. Get our troops out of there.

Chrome OS designed to start Microsoft death spiral. That's quite a bold claim, but it's certainly possible. Microsoft's position is based on savvy marketing and ruthless attacks on the competition, not technology. Microsoft is about the worst technology company around. The more people free themselves from Microsoft, the happier they are for it. On the other hand, if Microsoft becomes technically savvy, as Google is pressuring it to become, it has tremendously deep pockets. However it shakes out, computing will be better because of this move by Google. This is the kind of innovation that comes from economic freedom that creates wealth for all of us and improves our lives.

It's really scary how the war on terror has merged with the war on drugs in Afghanistan and Mexico. If we don't change course, it's coming to America soon.

Senators resist purchase of new planes by House. This is awesome.

29 MPG highway sounds too high for a Camaro. I bet GM is fudging these numbers with the government's blessing.

Obama is already asking Congress to raise the debt ceiling for the second time since he took office. Just say no.

Pelosi and Hoyer call health care protesters un-American. That's going to backfire on them.

Peter Schiff does a fabulous job handing one of the worst interviews I've ever seen. Larry O'Loser loses it again.

President Obama seized control of the census so he could count illegal aliens. Since illegal aliens tend to congregate in blue states other than Texas and Florida, Democrats get a windfall. California stands to gain 9 congressional seats. It will also over count homeless people in big, cities, always dominated by liberals, giving liberals more power. This is a scheme to disenfranchise the citizens of red states and counties.

Obama administration considering a VAT tax. I hope they're also considering how to survive the revolution if they try to force that on Americans. Obama has already pushed Americans to the limit.

AG Holder near to appointing a prosecutor to determine if CIA interrogators went beyond limits specified by the Bush administration.
"A senior Justice Department official said that Holder envisioned an inquiry that would be narrow in scope, focusing on "whether people went beyond the techniques that were authorized" in Bush administration memos that liberally interpreted anti-torture laws."
Yeah, right. Like any prosecutor ever accepts a narrow scope. Like Fitzgerald dropped the case about the Plame non-affair when he discovered Armitage was the leaker.
"such an investigation seems all but certain"
If Holder follows through with this, the CIA interrogators will likely all quit.
"Bracing for the worst, a small number of CIA officials have put off plans to retire or leave the agency so that they can maintain their access to classified files and be in a better position to defend against a Justice investigation."
OK, so they won't quit. The CIA will become a completely rogue agency instead and refuse all kinds of tasks. The consequences of this would be terrible for decades to come. This is a horrible, horrible idea.

Obama offers direct talks with North Korea. You've got to be kidding me. I doubt even Kim Jong Il expected to be rewarded this handsomely for his blackmail. Maybe Obama will give him better missile and nuclear weapon technology. Maybe he'll send him some sex slaves too.

Can somebody tell me where Obama gets the authority to modify or veto salaries for private sector employees? Is he blackmailing them by saying he'll take our bailout money back from them? The rule of law in America is on the ropes, about to get knocked out.

Apparently the hate crime bill, actually a huge power grab for the federal government over criminal law, passed with no notice.
"What's significant is that [this bill] greatly expands the federal government's jurisdiction to prosecute cases that properly belong in a state court.
...
In legal terms, this law achieves its aims through federal authority over interstate commerce. If someone assaults you by throwing a cell phone at you, what Congress has done is enabled the prosecution of the thrower as a function of the fact that the cell phone was made in Japan, and therefore must have crossed state lines. To non-lawyers, that surely sounds absurd which is precisely why this law's drastic overreach is so stark. This is a sea change in the power of the government to reach into a state and define violence between two people as a federal matter, one traditionally handled by state laws and state prosecutors."
I keep warning about Obama's bait and switch tactics. While he get the country worked up over one issue, Congress passes another. In this case, the health care debate allowed the hate crime bill to pass.

John Galt is spending less money.

To deal with swine flu, government prepares for citizens unwilling to follow orders.
"Read the agenda for the breakout sessions, especially the session on “psychological issues” (Session #2) and the topic heading: “Unwillingness to follow government orders.” Also note session #6, which includes “Control and diffuse social unrest & public disorder” and “Isolate prisons and other facilities.”"
Something tells me this is not just about swine flu.
