Free kibbles

As US troops withdraw from surge positions in Iraq, Iraqi tactics differ, enabling more violence. Interesting how suddenly casualties in Iraq are the Iraqis fault, and the surge was wonderful. Imagine what this news story would have been like if Bush was still president.

Economics in 2 paragraphs sums up why free markets are always the best system and why every government interference in them harms the people.

The mainstream media presents increasing unemployment in positive light. This would have been presented as the end of the world had a Republican been in the White House.

Owner of overly broad patent tries to shut down all computer based research for medicine.
[The doctor resisting this patent claim] also launched the site Harmful Patents, where he defiantly and courageously challenges the use of these patents to claim "a monopoly on the very concept of developing software to help physicians make treatment decisions"--absurdly, the patent gives ABL a monopoly on "the science of using computers to enhance medical treatment and decision making."
Amazing.

Boortz claims Obama's budget is only $3.4 trillion. Only. But I've also seen it advertised as $3.6 trillion and $3.55 trillion. Apparently nobody knows exactly how big Obama's budget is, but all those numbers are outrageous and damaging.

Obama directly pressures reporters to pretend that his $17 billion in cuts from his $3.4 trillion budget are significant.
"It is important, though, for all of you, as you're writing up these stories, to recognize that $17 billion taken out of our discretionary, non-defense budget, as well as portions of our defense budget, are significant," he said. "They mean something."
Propaganda means something. Pretending Obama is a budget cutter instead of a budget buster means something. You must obey Pharaoh Obama, and I'm sure his sycophants in the media will get right on that. I'm happy for the $17 billion in cuts. It's the $3.4 trillion in spending I don't like.

When Ronald Reagan told us the US government was too big in 1980, the Federal budget was less than $1.5 trillion in 2007 dollars. We need to get our budget smaller than that, and we should make entitle reform and cutting the US budget in half in 20 years the biggest issues for every national election.

Apparently enough people are reading my blog and they're coming to realize just how outrageous a narcissist Obama is. Glad I could help, but why'd it take so long? They couldn't figure it out from his two autobiographies and everything else?

Interesting fact that the US debt is so high, we wouldn't be eligible to join the EU. Not only is the Communist Chinese government smaller, smarter, and more effective than ours, the European welfare states have more responsible governments than us.

Obama's tax increases on oil companies mean higher energy prices for all of us.

Obama continues to threaten the management of firms receiving TARP money to make sure they do exactly what he tells them to do.

I'm sure Rev. Wright is happy having lunatics like this guy who claims swine flu was created by the right to kill poor people on his side. Of course this guy is only a reader, not the leader of the religious movement our president subscribes to.

Obligatory article about bank stress tests for future reference.

The Wall Street Journal describes how Bush and Obama both completely screwed up the terrorist detainee problem, with plenty of help from the Court, but this article acts like George Bush had no role in it. A.G. Holder backtracks and now claims he has no plans to release Guantanamo detainees into the US. That sounds like standard Obama double-speak to me. He may well still do it despite not having plans at the moment.

In his third essay on Obama's desire for empathy as the primary requirement for a Supreme Court Justice (I bet he wants to appoint somebody from ACORN), Thomas Sowell says what I keep saying - I thought Justice was supposed to be blind.

Sovereignty movements continue to rise.

Big Obama donors fight card check. That's good news.

Dick Cheney is right that it would be a mistake for Republicans, already too much like Democrats, to become more like Democrats, but the best advice for Republicans is never listen to Dick Cheney. Republicans are like Democrats in bad ways and unlike them in bad ways.

Britain plans heavy taxes on high earners, which will undoubtedly lead to high earners moving elsewhere.

I don't think shorter work weeks will help the EU's productivity. It's amazing how destructive government is.

Thought crime laws to protect the homeless. Protect them from what? Thoughts? Words?

Cato explains why tax havens are good for us.
