Free kibbles

Author compares Obama's gift of Chrysler to the UAW at the expense of bond holders to a mob movie. Good essay. This is yet another example of government playing god to corporations, providing mana from heaven to the politically connected and crushing those who haven't sacrificed enough on the alters of the 2 parties.

Hypocritical Democrats have lobbyists draft climate change bill. Don't we pay congressmen and their staffs for that?

More than 40 percent of humans do not enjoy freedom of the press.

Los Angeles blocking police from reporting illegal aliens who commit additional crimes.

More organized crime from ACORN.

Obama wants to massively expand the Federal student loan program and turn it into an entitlement, giving the Federal government a monopoly on student loans. No thanks.

Top 10 reasons why Obamanomics won't work. Failure to understand how we got into this mess in the first place is at the top of the list.

The dying newspaper Boston Globe says talk radio will die in 5 years. Sounds more like wishful thinking.

Ron Paul is back in the news because the Tea Parties expressed his sentiment, and now big-government Republicans are trying to co-opt them.

Analysis shows that Obama's plan for GM is a combination of socialism and syndicalism.

One of the Chrysler creditors threatened by Obama called Obama "the most dangerous smooth talker on the planet- and I knew Kissinger." This is Chicago-style machine corruption in the White House. We've elected a thug who has no respect for the rule of law or the private sector, and we got exactly what we deserved. Liberals would be burning down the White House if a Republican ever tried this kind of power grab and strong-arm tactics, and rightfully so. But where are they now?

3 out of 4 older voters want to increase the welfare state. Needless to say, their policy wishes are unsustainable, and they are voting us into self-destruction.

What in the world is NATO doing having military exercises in Georgia? The only possible reason for this is to piss off Russia. Of course Russia looks stupid too - like it can invade Georgia but Georgia can't invite another military in for exercises. But this just shows how counterproductive NATO is. NATO doesn't keep the world safer. This outdated security welfare program raises military tension. Georgia is a European problem, and it demands a European solution.

Congressmen rank each other by partisanship. How is Barney Frank both hyperpartisan and bipartisan? He must be playing both sides.

Because Ireland's economic growth was largely powered by bringing in foreign companies with its low corporate tax rate, Obama's tax plans will significantly harm Ireland's economy. Ours too.

How George Bush joined with Democrats on their bogus calls for high mileage cars to start the demise of Chrysler, which Obama has so forcefully concluded. Don't forget management and the unions. There's plenty of blame to go around for Chrysler's demise.
You, the taxpayer, have not finished chipping in to keep Fiat-Chrysler alive.
Amen.

So now Homeland Security has an extremist dictionary.
A "left-wing extremist" is described as someone who opposes war or is dedicated to environmental and animal rights causes, while a "right-wing extremist" is someone who is against abortion or for border enforcement.
For anybody who still refuses to acknowledge that any power we surrender to government no matter how well intentioned, the government turns around and uses against us, hopefully this will open your eyes.

Government vouchers to buy new, fuel efficient cars.

Forbes argues that this recession started much later than officially claimed and has already started recovering. Apparently it was much ado about nothing. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the official explanation was corrupted to enable a huge government power grab.

More Americans oppose gun control than ever.

China is building its military and aiming it at the US. But it's still way behind us. The way to check China's power is to get regional powers like Japan, India, Australia, South Korea to and others to join us and stand up against China. We do not need a military buildup to counter China.

More and freer trade with those countries is imperative to check China. Adopting the FairTax would dramatically improve our trade with everybody, giving us significantly greater leverage for foreign policy.

Subsidizing ethanol is stupid.

I'm not surprised that the Obama administration loves MSNBC.

Expanding the socialist powers of universities to punish students for activities off campus is stupid.

High speed rail is neither high speed nor energy efficient.

How government uses domestic surveillance on Americans who disagree with government.

I didn't need the Chrysler bailout to realize Obama has no respect for the law. As far as aristocrats are concerned, laws are for common people, not them.

Before you accuse anybody of war crimes, you have to look at history and understand the complications. War crimes are overrated. War crimes are how the victors further punish the losers. The goal of war is to win, and reality is, military leaders do what it takes to win as quickly as possible saving as many of their own troops as possible. It's stupid to outlaw tactics that will bring wars to an end quicker and with fewer casualties.

Cash strapped states are looking to tax the internet.

Dick Morris predicts Obama's governing philosophy from the Chrysler debacle, and has this great line, "While terrorists need not fear any violation of their constitutional rights, CEOs of Fortune 500 companies will not be so fortunate."

John Stossel reports that the alarmism surrounding steroids is overhyped (imagine that), and that the reason steroids are dangerous is they're illegal.

Walter Williams highlights how academic fraud, grade inflation, is making a bachelor's degree practically worthless.

Thomas Sowell has it exactly right about Obama's criteria for picking a Supreme Court Justice, "That President Obama has made "empathy" with certain groups one of his criteria for choosing a Supreme Court nominee is a dangerous sign of how much further the Supreme Court may be pushed away from the rule of law and toward even more arbitrary judicial edicts to advance the agenda of the left and set it in legal concrete, immune from the democratic process." Obama is explicity against the concept that justice is supposed to be blind, showing again he has no respect for the rule of law.
Those people who just accept soothing words from politicians they like are gambling with the future of a nation. If you were German, would you be in favor of a law "to relieve the distress of the German people and nation"? That was the law that gave Hitler dictatorial power.
He was just another German chancellor at the time. He was not elected on a platform of war, dictatorship or genocide. He got the power to do those things because of a law "to relieve the distress of the German people.
Interesting. In a follow-up essay Sowell presents Justice Oliver Wendall Holmes as a justice who understood that his job was to subordinate his feelings to the law. You should never be able to identify a judge's ideology by his decisions.

How many times did we say this throughout the campaign? If Obama loves America, why does he want to transform it into Europe?

Robert Reich seems surprised that Obama isn't really a pragmatist but a radical ideolog. Where has he been for the last year and a half?

The president didn’t actually mean that he wants a Supreme Court justice who harbors sympathy toward one side or the other — because that would be wrong (wink, wink). No, he’s looking for someone with experience which will “inform” the judge’s thinking, you see.
Right.

One thing about Obama's election is that all the supposed moderate liberals in the media and Washington have been exposes as the radical leftists they always pretended not to be.

Jonah Goldberg lists just the highlights of the Democrats' culture of corruption. I'm tired of these partisan idiots acting like one side or the other is corrupt. All the Republicans and Democrats are corrupt. The 2 parties have corrupted the political process at every level for 150 years. They've insured that only the most corrupt can ever make it to the top. They're all corrupt and the only way to end that corruption is to elect 3rd party candidates who will dramatically reduce the size and scope of government, returning economic, political and personal freedom to the people.
If a Republican administration, staffed with cronies from Goldman Sachs and Citibank, was cutting special deals for its political allies, I suspect we'd be hearing fewer FDR analogies and more nouns ending with the suffix "gate.
Baloney. That's exactly what Paulson did. That's how both parties roll, and neither accuses the other on it because they're both in it together.

Motto for Obama's health care plan. "I wish somebody would do something about how fat I am"

The mainstream media has noticed that decriminalizing drugs in Portugal was a success.

Florida guards electrocute children with stun guns as demonstration on take your child to work day. You've got to be kidding me.

British statistics reveal what everybody should have long known, police cars cause more accidents than any other category.

I hope it's not only Canadian troops in Afghanistan who get cajun chicken, beef bourguignon, crab legs, filet mignon and poutine. Feed combat troops anything they want.

Obama praises tax cheat Charlie Rangel for helping fight tax cheats. Ironic.

That looks like a pretty good burger Obama and Biden are eating.

Gadget warns of red light cameras.

Attorney Generals threaten Craigslist if they don't take down erotic ads.
[I]f Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster doesn’t take down his erotic ads in South Carolina within 10 days, he faces prosecution related to obscenity and prostitution.
This is bullshit. There's nothing illegal about those ads. No crime has been committed. If the person running the ad commits a crime afterward, that's not Craigslist's fault. If some of these advertisers are using this for criminal activity, it's the cops job to stop the criminals. Craigslist can't know.
