Free kibbles

The Dept. of Homeland Security plans to collect DNA from every person arrested on a federal crime, whether charged and found guilty or not.  This is bull.

Oklahoma sheriff ran sex slave operation out of jail. This isn't possible without support from a large number of deputies. This article talks about one man, but this has to be a huge conspiracy. Turning over his office to his second in command seems ridiculous to me. The understatement of the resident is ridiculous.  Why would anybody trust somebody with this kind of power anyway? Has the public forgotten that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely?  It's our responsibility to expect the worst from every government official, and to be on guard against them.  And we have to realize the press is just another branch of government and therefore cannot be trusted as a watchdog on government.

This court is not equipped to deal with the cases of hundreds of children taken from the polygamist ranch.

Suicide bomber kills 42 in northern Iraq at funeral of prominent Sunni Awakening Sheikh. I wonder if this violence is timed to anything.  You would think al Qaeda would have executed those attacks either right before or while Gen. Petraeus was testifying to Congress.

In a 7 - 2 decision, the Supreme Court rules lethal injection is constitutional.

Fortunately, Bush's global warming initiative is about voluntarily reducing emissions through development of new technology.  He didn't come close to embracing Gore, IPCC, or Democrats' plans to destroy our economy with useless carbon caps and taxes.  This was an attempt to derail that Marxist approach favored all over the world.  The Marxists haven't won yet, but McCain, Obama, and Clinton are all on board with the Marxist approach.

In another blow to the Marxists, Michigan Dem. Dingle withdraws his bill for carbon taxes. Interestingly, Dingle says "now is not the time to put any additional financial burden" on workers. When is the time? Why should we ever do that. This shows that government aristocrats understand that their taxes and restrictions are a burden on the American people, but they just keep adding to that burden every day anyway. But what is this comment?

Zimbabwe government accuses opposition leader of treason, and China is selling arms to Zimbabwe despite international sanctions. Cato suggests African nations should pressure Zimbabwe to release election results.

Carter meets Hamas in Cairo.

Pope blames church sex scandal on society. What? What happened to personal responsibility? That won't help the church.

Reason explains that Obama and Clinton's windfall profits tax on oil companies didn't work for Carter, and won't work for them either.  It will be easy for McCain to attack that plan by equating the candidate with Carter.  It would be funny to see Democrats have to defend Carter. But McCain's plan of a gas tax holiday will increase demand, driving prices back up, at least some.

There are many different opinions on last night's Democrat debate on ABC.  Obama and Clinton rip each other, highlighting points that should disqualify each from being president.  It was boring, and we learned nothing.  The hosts dwelled in gossip. The hosts did a great job. Obama reminds voters of the Clintons' 16 year record of condescension and but not corruption. The press keeps ignoring the Clintons' horrible record. But Mickey Kaus may have identified an
interesting bit: Obama may have flipped on affirmative action.

320,000 troops have brain injuries.  I wonder what that means.  It sure makes for a sensational headline.  This smells like a backhanded attack on the war effort, not real science.

Websites with self-modifying code adapt to users to remain relevant.  Cool.

Privacy laws don't cover health records stored by Google and Microsoft. I think is simplistic. I'm sure both companies have privacy policies, and if they broke those policies, you could sue them. If you don't check the policies up front, that's your own fault.

Cato proposes allowing mortgage companies to continue writing off losses and renegotiating with borrowers to minimize those losses instead of putting taxpayers at risk and creating even more moral hazard by bailing out homeowners (and therefore lenders).

School ends tradition of allowing graduates with 4.0 grade point average of wearing white robes, a special honor, at graduation because principal says all students are special at graduation. This just reduces the honor due those who excelled.  But 23 students with 4.0 in a school with only 1,500 students is way too high.  That graduating class is fewer than 400.  We had 1 straight A student in my graduating class of 300. This school needs to make its curriculum harder.

Father and son barred from entering British public swimming pool because they were not Muslim. So that's how it works? First, they start by demanding male and female only access to facilities, and once we do that because it sounds reasonable. Then that access becomes Muslim only while we weren't paying attention? Slicing the salami.

Barack Obama caved and started wearing a lapel flag pin.

So everybody who criticized Obama's bitter remark is a closet or outright racist. This is how it's going to be as long as Obama is in the spotlight - an critic will be declared a racist. Wonderful.

I hate having read this story and posting it, but it will be hard to ever find a story that shows how sickening some aspects of our culture have become. This hoax of a supposed Yale artist displaying the blood from self-induced miscarraiges and film of her suffering them is the intersection of elitist liberal university education, the pro-choice movement, and the elite media who don't bother to investigate anything - they just print what they want to print.  Bizarre beyond belief.

Activists use intimidation and procedural politics to keep votes abolishing racial preferences from reaching the people.
