Free kibbles

French commandos capture Somali  pirate suspects and take them to Paris for questioning. Excellent.

Mugabe arresting opposition members before probable run-off election.

Oil at another record as the dollar falls.  This lends some credance to the Amero theory.  Both Mexico and Canada are making money hand over fist selling oil, so a merged a currency would be far more stable than the dollar right now.  If you look at it from the government aristocrats' point of view - the dollar will continue to fall because government will never cut spending, so merging makes sense to prop it up.  I think we should kick all those government aristocrats out of office and cut the size and scope of government in half, adopt the FairTax, enact term limits and elect citizen-representatives.  The dollar would come back strong, we would start drilling for our own oil, we would build alternative power plants like nuclear, coal, and natural gas, and America would be the leader of the world for rest of this century instead of having to merge with Canada and Mexico to compete with China and the EU.  Euro at record high.

It's sickening that our government aristocrats think that US workers cannot compete in the world market. The other reason we're being out-competed is the burden of government.

There's going to be a huge battle over Texas removing all those children from poligamy sect. The state has to prove probably cause for each child it removed, and I that shouldn't be possible.  But our judges are paid by the state, so they overwhelmingly favor state power.

High school students to receive $100 for every exam they pass.  I like that idea in general, but why are taxpayers paying for it?  Rewarding children for good behavior is a job for parents.  And only government would consider a D worth the same as an A.  My company used to pay 90% of education costs for an A, and 50% for a B in continuing education.  Nothing else.  I thought that was a great idea.

It's good to see the Pope getting this much publicity.  Government has terribly weakened religion in the US (not as much as Europe, though), and hopefully this visit will help strengthen it.

Analysist calls a nuclear attack on Washington D.C. inevitable and likely in the next 20 years. Inevitable maybe since forever is a long time, but it's not inevitable in our lifetimes if we we could dramatically reduce the size and scope of government so it could do the few things it's supposed to do, like stop nuclear proliferation, and do them well instead of being an incompetitent leviathon at everything because it wastes our resources screwing up our lives instead.

Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid will allow votes on 3 judges.  He's been blocking Bush judicial appointments for no good reason, and he's trying to avoid the consequences of his actions.

McCain says before any attack on Iran, the government must make a more convincing case than in Iraq.  I think they've done that already.  The military has captured Iranian weapons.  We never had more than innuendo for Iraq.

Obama opens up 11 point lead, his largest of the year.  It's all over except for the angry lady singing.  Most voters view Hillary Clinton as dishonest.  Anybody who is just figuring that out is willfully blind.  She and her husband are the most dishonest public figures in my lifetime, calling them serial liars in being polite, and we've known that since the early 90s.

Cato explains the futility of trying to reduce global warming by cutting CO2 emissions, which aren't a major driver of climate change anyway.

Cato calls for an end to farm subsidies and government involvement in agricultural markets. Our farmers will be better off if we end all subsidies.

Boortz offers some facts and statistics regarding ethanol.  Did you know you could feed a baby for a year on the amount of corn it takes to make one tank full of ethanol?

Boortz blames the American Airlines debacle on Minn Dem. James Oberstar, who just reamed out the FAA for being too cozy with airlines.  If those planes were already inspected and known to be safe, this is true.  If they were not safe, then it's not true.  I have no idea if Oberstar did travelers a service or disservice with his attacks on the FAA.

Speculation of a US attack on Iran is heating up.  Either we are going to deny Iran the bomb, or we might as well surrender any pretense to halting nuclear proliferation and start preparing for the fallout - literally - as every dictator around the world enters a new nuclear arms race. We have to consider the consequences of our actions, and not acting is an action that has dire consequences.
