Free kibbles

The Supreme Court seems to be leaning toward making the obvious ruling on the 2nd Amendment, that it protects individual ownership of firearms. It's a shame that all of them seem to accept some level of oppressive regulation.

Killer bee ordinance allows government agents to enter private property to kill killer bees and mosquitoes. I hope it requires a warrant.

Bush defends the Iraq war. He doesn't do this enough. His silence has allowed Democrats to rewrite history in many liberals' minds about the war and Saddam, and he should fix that.

Wall Street is already tapping into the Fed. This will never go away. The Fed caused this problem by flooding the market with too much money, causing loan security purchasers to miscalculate the risks of the loans they purchased, and as a result of its bad policies, the Fed has expanded its power to supposedly fix it. In fact, it will just make things worse later. This is the neverending destructive spiral of socialism in action. This is a form of welfare for Wall Street.

Oceans are not warming. This article implies that the planet has been warming since 2003, but that's not true. The planet has been slightly cooling since 1998, and it cooled significantly in 2007, wiping out nearly a century of warming. It's funny to read the scientists dissemble when their data doesn't fit their hypothesis. The warmers have gotten very good at it because the data never fits their hypothesis. It's rare to see a warmer admit we don't understand the effects of clouds, which are a major factor in climate, and without that understanding, all their theories and models are bull.

Tibetan protests spread to Nepal. Few Tibetan protesters surrender. Calls for Olympic ceremony boycott.

Serbian neighbors Bulgaria, Hungary, and Croatia recognize Kosovo.

Man who killed police officer who broke in his house is on trial for murder. This story is all too typical. It highlights a mentality that we've empowered our police to be home invaders and our justice system to protect them instead of us. The result is out of control.

Reason takes on the FCC and its language ban.

McCain visits Israel. McCain pulls ahead of both Democrats. Supposedly tough on terrorists, McCain twice claims Iran is funding al Qaeda, which goes against intelligence reports and common sense. Al Qaeda is Arab and Sunni, Iran is Persian and Shiite. Intelligence has reported that Iran is funding and arming the Taliban though, so maybe McCain is right and everybody else is wrong.

In an attempt to fool the people and deflect criticism that the Clintons are hiding Hillary's documents, the Clintons released her first lady schedules. That makes her as qualified to be president as Laura Bush. Those schedules won't inform of her role as adviser. Her schedule shows that she was usually far away from the decisions, undermining her claims of having an important advisory position.

Clinton desperately tries to keep possibility for Michigan revote alive.

Arthur C. Clarke died.

Ballsy animation of Clinton/Obama debate with homages to Carrie, Star Wars, and Alien.

Marine stands up to protesters. Good for him. Free speech applies to everybody. I know the hate-America left hates that part.

So every trail in a federal park will have to provide wheelchair access? Why just trails. Maybe rock climbing cliffs need to be wheelchair accessible too. Who cares about preserving nature? That will close down state parks. People are taking advantage of our tolerance and good natures.

ACLU sues school system for failing to provide a quality education. I guess they should sue pretty much every government school. The interesting thing is that part of their suit focuses on poorer graduation rates for blacks and Hispanics compared to whites. How is that the schools system's fault? Do they have separate classrooms where they teach easier material to whites? I doubt it. I'm willing to bet their curriculum is the same regardless of race.

Dick Armey understand the corruption of earmarks.

Police in Sarasota want the power to impound vehicles for driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a fender bender, or having the stereo too loud. Our police know no limits to their power either, and that's because we give them more and more power every day. We need to put a stop to that and remind police that they are not above the law. If they taser somebody and it's not in self-defense, we should put them in jail for assault. If they bust down the door with no-knock warrant and get shot, that's their own fault. People have the right to self-defense even if their assailants are wearing badges.

Islamic terrorists blow up school to force students to attend a madrassa. These are the people Democrats want to find common ground with.

Thomas Sowell slams Barack Obama's speech as the work of a con-man. Wow. Sowell has walked in the shoes Obama wants us to believe he walked in, and he obviously considers Obama a charlatan. Sowell compares Obama to Spitzer. Sowell is rarely emotional in his essays. It's obvious he feels personally injured by Obama's duplicity. I can't imagine how hard it would be for a black man as accomplished as Sowell to see another (half) black man like Obama seemingly transcend race and legitimately reach for the presidency with broad-based support, only to be exposed as a charlatan.

I wonder if Obama identifies more with the angry, oppressed blacks or the rich, racist whites. Somehow I doubt the latter would be as good for his political career as the former. I noticed he didn't say he couldn't abandon the white community. But in fact, it was his white mother who was American, not his black father.

Great essay explaining that hate need not be analyzed, as Obama would have us do, but dismissed. The problem with the hater, not the rest of us. Rev. Wright's comments were not rational discussions to be examined and debated, but irrational, hate-filled tirades that Obama should resoundingly repudiate, not find excuses for.

This is an excellent point and indicative of the huge double standard that Obama is using to his benefit as Geraldine Ferraro pointed out. Imagine if a white candidate had embraced his pastor of 20 years, invited him to be an official adviser to his campaign, married the candidate and his wife, and that pastor had made such outrageous remarks about blacks. The white candidate's career would have ended instantly. There were be no discussion of why whites feel the way they feel. If the white candidate made such a speech, he would be lucky not to be tarred and feathered. But Obama is compared to JFK and MLK. That double-standard is what is allowing Obama to continue.

Amity Shlaes, who wrote the groundbreaking book challenging the conventional wisdom of Hoover, FDR, and the great depression, explains that government, led by Democrats, are repeating the same mistakes that drove us into the Great Depression. Of course, the US wasn't already bankrupt in 1930 like it is now because of the entitlement FDR started, so any depression will be far more devastating.

John Stossel reports that kids being kids like they have been since the dawn of time, trying to learn about sex, are being convicted and turned into life-long sex offenders.

Walter Williams understands that the peace-loving Muslims are effectively supporting the radical Muslims in countries ruled by radical Muslims. The leaders of a country are the responsibility of the citizens. If the Palestinians don't stop Hamas from attacking Israel, they are complicit in Hamas' attacks. If the Iranians don't stop the Mullahs from funding Hezbollah, Hamas, Shiite terrorists in Iraq, and the Taliban, the Iranian people are complicit in those actions. Our policies must consider them supporters of terrorism.

Mike Adams has an interesting essay that contrasts with Obama and Rev. Wright issue.
