California plans to control home thermostats with radio commands. Californians are losing their freedom to determine the temperature in their own homes. Talk about a big government solution to a big government problem. The regulations on power plants in this country are so restrictive and archaic that our power grid is falling apart. Naturally, big government's solution is take even more freedom and power from the people. The solution is to get rid of the damn regulations blocking new, cost-effective power plants so we can modernize our energy grid and supply enough power for everybody.
This is one of millions of perfect examples of how big government creates problems, then expands its power at the expense of the people to compound those problems. This proposal will create a black market for heating and cooling in homes. Can you imagine? In the United States of America, people are going to have to break the law to adjust the temperature in their own homes. Government is defeating the people in its war on freedom at a dramatic rate.
Iraqi government passes landmark de-Baathification legislation. This is a significant part of the political reconciliation at the national government level everybody has been so concerned about. Americans should join together and celebrate yet another tremendous accomplishment on the way to success in Iraq. But you can bet the left won't celebrate. This is another victory for Bush, and you can bet Democrats and liberals will work overtime to diminish and belittle this accomplishment. Bush is negotiating a long-term security agreement with Iraq that may take the issue out of the next president's hands. This may save Democrats come election time.
Iranian fastboats have harassed US ships at least 2 other times that hadn't been reported. The way to stop this is to sink them. We have our ship captains on too short of a leash. These events are not like the Tonkin Gulf - they're real.
Taiwan rejects independence party and votes overwhelmingly for party supporting closer ties to China. They'll regret this when the communists take over. Maybe there will be a bigger lesson for the world if Taiwan surrenders its freedom to China.
Musharraf rejects UN proposal for independent investigation into Bhutto's assassination. I don't blame him for not trusting the UN, the most corrupt organization in history, but how guilty does this guy look?
Pakistan expels New York Times reporter after report on the resurgence of the Taliban in Pakistan.
Some states reject new Real ID requirements.
Citigroup looking to China and Kuwait for funds. The policies of the 2 parties, the punishing federal tax system, blocking of cost-effective alternative power, and blocking drilling for US oil, have forced the wholesale transfer of American wealth to China and Arab oil countries. Now American companies have to go hat in hand asking for help from those countries.
A scientific coordinator, not a scientist, says that despite falling global temperatures, global warming has not stopped. The only thing I can think of is that this guy doesn't understand English.
Daily Kos pressures Michigan Democrats to vote for Romney to create infighting among Republicans. This is how twisted the 2 parties have made our political system.
Fred Thompson goes after Huckabee. Most likely it's too little, too late.
Mark Levin rips John McCain. With McCain's record, it's just too easy.
Some decent criticisms of libertarian thinking, but mostly not. The US was not founded on freedom and equal rights under the lay, not equality, which can never be attained. The founders were smart enough to know it, unlike this author.
We can end America's downturn quickly by dramatically cutting the size and scope of government including adopting the FairTax.
John Bolton argues that the US should pull out of our deal to denuclearize North Korea because North Korea has egregiously failed to uphold it's end, and has no intention of denuclearizing.
Hillary thinks $70 billion in subsidies will stave off recession. No. Cutting spending and taxes will stave off recession. More government spending is the just the opposite of what we need.
