The New York Times is reporting that Bush is considering drawing down troops in Iraq. I think this is wishful thinking. Bush has nothing to gain by capitulating on a withdrawal - if he does, he'll share ownership for defeat. He should continue to fight for victory, and make Democrats, with some Republican help, take full ownership of defeat. Bush should take to the bully pulpit, explain the terrible consequences, and make sure the public understands that Democrats will own responsibility for them. Bush denies report.

A Senate proposal to reform the tax code purposely named the Fair Flat Tax to confuse itself with the Fair Tax. This is crap. It's still an income tax with all the issue associated with an income tax including Congress' ability to mess with it 3 times a day.
