FREEDOM OF SPEECH

British government arrests man for writing email that might be offensive to gypsies. If that wasn't bad enough, he didn't even write the email. This is what Obama is going to do to bloggers when he seizes control of the internet, and Republicans won't undo it. They'll jump right on the bandwagon because they're addicted to power just like Democrats.

ECONOMY:

The economy started dipping back in down in December. That's the start of the secondary recession I've been writing about.

We're headed for another stock market crash. GE as the next AIG is ugly.
"Baby Boomers, who own most stocks directly and indirectly, are going to be selling them to support themselves in retirement."
That's good point I hadn't heard before.
"Well, the government has been suppressing interest rates for a long time now, which is exactly the opposite of what they should be doing. These artificially low interest rates discourage people from saving and encourage them to gamble, hoping to outrun inflation. But eventually the market will force interest rates to go higher, and that will kill the stock market, because the stock market does tend to fluctuate inversely with interest rates. High interest rates almost always mean a low stock market, and low interest rates tend to mean a high stock market. So it seems to me that there simply is no good news on the economic front. Interest rates are headed way up, both out of a need for capital and as a reflection of the high price inflation ahead."
Even a blind dog will tree a coon once in a while, but government is wrong on everything.

TAX AND SPEND:

Bunch of graphs showing how bad our debt problem is.

HEALTH CARE:

Obama delays taxing cadillac plans for unions, but not for everybody else.
"The deal cut Thursday would raise the value of policies subject to the tax to $24,000 for families and $8,900 for individuals. Plans with significant numbers of women or older workers would get an additional break, as would workers in high-cost states and high-risk professions. Dental and vision plans would be exempt starting in 2015. And workers with collective-bargaining agreements and government employers would be exempt until 2018, giving labor leaders time to negotiate new contracts."
Whatever happened to equality under the law?

The Republicans are never even going to entertain the idea of repealing Obamcare. Did you see them repealing Medicare? Medicaid? Schip? Medicare Part D? No. They created Medicare Part D. While Republicans are publicly against Obamacare because it's to their advantage politically at the moment, privately they covet the additional power Obamacare will give them over the people the same as Democrats. Boortz's attempt to make excuses for Republican aristocrats is pathetic.

GLOBAL WARMING:

The last thing we need is for some crackpot scientists to attempt geo-engineering the Earth's climate. These fools can't even recognize a fraud when one's slapping them in the face.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE:

Cops disarming and handcuffing victims and witness "so everybody can be safe" is becoming the norm. This cop should be arrested for abrogation of rights under color of law.
"The officer handcuffed and disarmed him "so that everyone would be safe"? What a bunch of bull. If the burglar or burglars had emerged, they would have been confronted not by two armed law-abiding good guys, but instead by one small, frightened officer and a handcuffed and disarmed legal occupant. This rendered Mr. Mitchener "safer"?"
The handcuffed man can never be safer handcuffed than free. How Orwellian is that claim? Isn't this an admission on the part of the cops that the cops aren't safe to be around? Armed citizens can be around each other with no danger all the time, but apparently cops cannot.
"Please note that if Mr. Mitchener had not followed law, ordinance, and Metro request, if he had carried a firearm in his waistband without ever seeking a permit or informing the officer he had it, the tiny officer would have had no probable cause to disarm him, and he would likely have remained armed throughout the entire encounter. Thus, he was punished, degraded, and treated like a common criminal because and only because he attempted to follow law, ordinance and Metro's legally dubious "instructions.""T
his is a great point. It goes back to the concept that anything you say can and will be used against you by the police so you're better off not saying anything ever.
"The Constitution does not say "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed unless such infringement makes an officer of the government feel safer.""
Great line.

Cops arresting people for videotaping them is becoming the norm too. Government and only government will videotape anything it wants. The rest of us are criminals for doing so. For our own security, of course.

WAR:

The deeper mystery and odd relationships between the underwear bomber incident and 9/11.""’This person actually was videotaping it,’ Mr. Keepman told the Detroit News. Mrs. Keepman told 620WTMJ’s Wisconsin’s Morning News: ‘He sat up and videotaped the entire thing, very calmly. We do know that the FBI is looking for him intensely. Since then, we’ve heard nothing about it.’""How hard can it be to find him? The FBI knows exactly what seat he was sitting in. They held and debriefed everybody in the flight presumably including him. The problem with identifying all this as weird is it's stuff nobody would normally notice unless a guy on airplane set his underwear on fire. What's weird is the media isn't digging this stuff up. I guess they don't want to bite the hand that feeds them, as usual.

The war on drugs has infected the war in Afghanistan. When we went into Afghanistan to oust al Qaeda, obviously our military knew that al Qaeda would retreat into Pakistan. Why did we allow that to happen? That's a huge blunder either politically or militarily, and I don't know which.

Because Obama has significantly blurred the line between prisoner of war and criminal, the military is confused about how to handle terrorists. This is going to weaken our military.

POLITICS:

WSJ doing research for article on Rand Paul. Maybe I'll finally find out what this guy is about. I didn't know Rand Paul was the Tea Party leader. I thought the Tea Parties were a grass roots upwelling of anti-government sentiment that were hijacked by the same big-government Republicans who've been aggressively expanding the size and scope of government for the last eight years. Rand Paul is not one of them.
"It has been an incredible two weeks for the Paul campaign. In a survey released by SurveyUSA Paul leads the GOP’s establishment candidate, Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson by 3 points, 35% to 32%. And a new poll out from Rasmussen shows that Rand Paul leads both potential Democrat opponents. He leads Attorney General Jack Conway by 10 points, 45% to 35%. And he also leads Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo 49% to 35%.

Paul also received two high profile endorsements. The first endorsement came fromfinancial expert Steve Forbes. Forbes has long been well known and respected in the fiscally conservative wing of the political world. The Paul campaign is also now publicly backed by the Gun Owners of America, an important endorsement in the state of Kentucky where a majority of the citizens take their 2nd amendment rights seriously. Both of these endorsements demonstrate Paul’s appeal to the base of the conservative wing of the GOP.

But the most impressive achievement yet for the Rand Paul US Senate campaign has been their cash raising ability. Paul has already raised $1.7 million, and the general election is still over 10 months away.

The way that Rand Paul is raising money is somewhat unique. He has a built in nationwidefundraising system from the residual network from his father Ron Paul’s 2008 Presidentialcampaign. Having that broad base of financial support has helped fund the extensive traveling and campaigning Paul is now undertaking within the confides of Kentucky state borders.

While his Republican primary opponent enjoys the support of the GOP establishment, namely Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, it does not seem to be translating into votes. It will be interesting to see how extensively the RNC and the GOP establishment is willing spend resources on a campaign that is already looking desperate for Grayson. And if Grayson fails, will McConnell ever back Rand Paul?"
It sounds like Rand Paul is the beneficiary of his dad's 2008 campaign and the Tea Party movement, not its leader, but this shows how the Tea Party movement can improve America by ousting establishment Republicans. The problem is in general the Tea Party members aren't ousting their incumbent Republicans, only contesting open seats. That's not enough. That's not nearly enough to force our government to change direction toward liberty. All that will do is give us another starboard tack on the road to serfdom.

How Republicans pander to blacks, and how it fails. Ousting Trent Lott is a perfect example.

Americans evenly divided on whether McCain would have been a better president. That's about the same as the election, which is surprising. As terrible as Obama has been, I would expect him to be lower.

MISC:

Doomsday clock moves backwards because of more hopeful state of world affairs. What are these guys smoking?
