Free kibbles

TAX AND SPEND:

Because government controls our welfare system and the aristocrats use it to buy votes (it can't be any other way), millions of non-needy people overburden the system, and the truly needy suffer under significantly lower quality of aid than they would receive in a private sector safety net.

STATES RIGHTS:

Schumer and Frank push universal voter registration.

How nullification worked for South Carolina in 1832. Naturally the federal government threatened force, but South Carolina held out for a lower tariff, and it got it. Supposedly Lincoln put an end to any nullification after that. One of the great fears I have of Obama is his desire to have significant presidency like Lincoln. That makes me fear he's not just willing but possibly eager to turn the military on any state that resists his tyranny in Lincolnesque fashion.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE:

British police warn young mother against waving a knife at criminals breaking in her garden.
"Myleene Klass has been warned by police that waving a knife at youths who had broken into her garden is illegal. The 31-year-old presenter had been home alone with two-year-old daughter Ava when she saw the teenagers attempting to break into her garden shed through her kitchen window.
Myleene, who had been ‘utterly terrified’ according to her spokesperson, immediately called the police[emphasis mine] but quickly grabbed a kitchen knife to wave at the intruders in an attempt to scare them away. However, when police arrived at the property in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, they told Myleene that she should not have used the knife because it is still classed as an ‘offensive weapon’, even if you use it in your own home."
That's the model many want the US to follow.

WAR:

The most expensive security apparatus in the world can't stop a would-be terrorist who's dad warned us about him in advance, but it can hunt down and punish line-jumpers as well as the next government security bureaucracy. Why we tolerate this absurdity is beyond me.

It would be really stupid if the government wasn't preparing the military for war in Iran. It would be stupider to invade Iran. We don't need to invade Iran to destroy its nuclear weapons program. Bombing houses full of people to kill one terrorist is a bad idea. Bombing nuclear weapons facilities works great. But reduce them to rubble. Don't just punch a hole in them that can be patched in a year or two.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION:

POLITICS:

Harry Reid apologizes for using the word Negro in reference to Barack Obama during the campaign and showing exactly the kind of prejudice that dominates the Democrat party. Funny how he didn't apologize at the time. He's apologizing over a year later only because the comment became public. Just like all politicians, he's not sorry he said (or did) it. He's just sorry he got caught.

Massachusetts Republican Senate candidate supported Romneycare and increased government spending. Sounds like a typical Republican to me.

Even libertarianism has its kool-aid drinkers like the person who thinks this article implies Peter Schiff is in the catbird seat in Connecticut.

MISC:

It didn't take long for Congress to start perverting the Constitution.
"In early 1790, several Congressmen argued against a census prior to the next election. Some in the Congress, who advocated an immediate census, noted that those who did not want one were the people from states which were generally regarded as being over-represented in the Congress based on the initial figures provided for in the Constitution. Others were concerned that the questions to be asked in the census, while others felt that more questions should be asked to get a better picture of the citizenry."
Our politics today isn't any worse than politics at any time. But as great scientists stand on the shoulders of those who came before them, political crooks stand on the shoulders of those who came before them too, so our country is suffering from the accumulated damage of centuries of professional politicians. I was going to say power-hungry professional politicians, but that would be redundant.

Census takers tell us to trust them, but they gave up the names and addresses of Americans of Japanese decent during WWII so they could be rounded up into concentration camps. Sherman follows census to burn the South. Never trust the government.

California stands to pick up nine seats and Texas four by counting illegal immigrants in the census.
