Free kibbles

US troops are making raids into the uncontrolled tribal regions in Pakistan. It's about time we started acting in our own interest in Pakistan. The Pakistanis don't like it, but it will force the government to take action in the region.

Gen. Petraeus recommends drawing down only 1 combat brigade from Iraq and not until early next year. Bummer. I was hoping for more troops to come home sooner.

This must be the 20th time the US has condemned Russia over its invasion of Georgia, this time it's coming from Cheney in Georgia. This empty rhetoric is worthless. And bringing Georgia into NATO is worse than worthless, it's dangerous. We have to quit talking and quit provoking Russia, and simply make it pay a diplomatic and/or economic price for invading Georgia.

After all the Democrats psycho-drama in Detroit, the mayor pleads guilty and agrees to resign. It's about time. This illustrates one of the few, significant differences between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans tend to resign when they're busted. Democrats tend to make absurd spectacles of themselves as they fight to keep their jobs.

Oldest skeletons yet discovered in the western hemisphere hint that original inhabitants may have been of south Asian descent, not north Asian.

Buckeye's star running back Beanie Wells is out this week versus OU. Ouch. We'll need him the week after against USC.

Boortz brings up a great point about the coverage of Palin's speech. After Obama's Greek temple speech, how many times did you hear the press say it was written by somebody else? How many times did you hear "it was just a speech"? How many times did you hear that about Palin's speech?

Peggy Noonan tries to clarify her remarks, but she doesn't apologize for them, she only gives a half-hearted apology from using a curse word which is really more of an attack on others than any apology at all.
But, bottom line, I am certainly sorry I blurted my barnyard ephithet, I am certainly sorry that someone abused my meaning in the use of the words, "It's over," and I'm sorry I didn't have the Kay Bailey Hutchison thought before this morning, because I could have written of it.

I think Noonan did herself more damage with this follow-up. At least my opinion of her keeps falling.

The 23 year old woman who answers Boortz' phones provides gripping insight into what the media feeding frenzy regarding Sarah Palin tells us about our culture and the future for women. This is a must read, imo. Where is Hillary Clinton? Why isn't Hillary Clinton calling the media to account for their sexist sliming of Sarah Palin? Clinton aids speak out against sexism leveled at Palin. But where is Clinton herself?

All Congress has to do to open up the continental shelf for drilling is to allow the moratorium to expire on Oct. 1. If that's true, can't Senate Republicans filibuster any attempt to extend the deadline? This looks like a great opportunity for Republicans and something they can accomplish even with their minority status.

Islamic terrorists put bounty on John McCain's spiritual adviser.

Here's a libertarian that is going to vote for Sarah Palin, not John McCain. I'm telling you, she has shaken the political world. The liberal elites are fighting for their lives like wounded animals caught in a corner because Sarah Palin is a real person, and if McCain wins, their propaganda that only government aristocrats can be president is destroyed. I agree with everything this guy says right up until the part about smaller government. I think the jury's still out on that one, and until I hear a Republican say he or she vows to leave office with a smaller federal budget than when he or she entered, I'm sticking Libertarian.

I was thinking about Joe Biden's foreign policy experience last night. If Joe Biden, who has been listening and watching people enact foreign policy from the sidelines for decades, but never enacted foreign policy himself, is experienced at foreign policy, then every season ticket holder in the NFL is experienced at playing NFL football.

Newsweek supported Sarah Palin a year ago.

Buffy MMORG in the works.

Man puts handwritten sign on drinking fountain that says, "whites only drinking fountain," and after he gets in trouble he says it wasn't "racial" and his lawyer says he's not a bigot. Right.

Fund manager wants taxpayers to prop up overpriced securities to keep market from correcting itself. This is a great example of how business and government work together to hurt Americans. We wouldn't have any financial crises if government didn't protect and bail out businesses. Assets would be accurately priced based on market forces, not on the perversion of the market by government. Government must extract itself from the economy so the market can correct itself in order to avoid worse, future crises. The problem isn't that prices are falling. The problem is they were artificially inflated by government policies to begin with.

The UK hotel which refused a room to wounded soldier should be hounded out of business.

Barack Obama finally concedes that the surge in Iraq was a phenomenal success. Better late than never I guess.

You know, even if the accusations that Sarah Palin had an affair are false and intended to harm her, they could do just that.

Men have a cheating gene. Why hasn't the same analysis been performed on women?

It's one thing to say the excitement around Sarah Palin is comparable to the excitement for Reagan, but it's quite another to compare Palin to Reagan as Reagan's son Michael does here. To put it nicely, this comparison is over the top. I just really don't know what to say about this comparison by Reagan's son.

Thank you Victor Davis Hansen for saying one of the best truisms in politics, something I talk about a lot, but apparently never write about - if you want real change, you have to stop electing lawyers. The weight of our laws is crushing Americans. Laws, by definition, restrict freedom. America should be a land of very few laws and great freedom. But laws are good for lawyers. Lawyers love laws. The more laws there are, the more money lawyers make. Before we can repeal all these crushing laws, we have to stop electing lawyers.

Senate minority leader McConnell would welcome Lieberman if Harry Reid carries out his threat to punish Lieberman for his speech at the Republican convention.

Another example of the liberal double-standard on Palin. Her speech was OK, but Barack Obama's was transcendent. Palin the VP candidate has no foreign policy credentials, but Barack Obama the presidential candidate does. The hypocrisy is so transparent. Anybody from outside the beltway need not apply. Except for Bill Clinton because his lack of foreign policy experience wan't a problem. It's only a problem for a Republican and double that for a Republican woman. Best of all, anybody who thinks Palin did a great job is judging her by an 8th grade standard. This guy did a great job insulting women, Republicans, conservatives and everybody else in a America who was impressed by Palin.

37,244,000 viewers for Sarah Palin's speech last night, only 1 million fewer than Obama. Wow. New NBC (liberal) poll shows McCain has closed 8 point gap to tie Obama again. Palin has also closed the enthusiasm gap for McCain by 22 points.

L.A. opens $350 million high school 10 years late.

I'm still not impressed with the job of community organizer, especially since its described as promoting social justice - which is an euphemism for income redistribution and class warfare.

Welcome to the myspace generation. Bristol Palin drinking in myspace pictures. I hadn't read this in the press yet. I hope it stays that way.
