Politics

The Onion does it again.
"In a stunning development that has left every federal institution reeling, the U.S. government’s legislative branch was arrested this afternoon on 23.3 million separate charges of manslaughter, sources confirmed.Citing numerous lethal actions over nearly two and a half centuries—including negligent health care policies, failure to fund reconstruction on dangerously dilapidated roads and bridges, and repeatedly putting American soldiers in harm’s way in every armed conflict dating back to the War of 1812—authorities handcuffed all 535 members of Congress today and escorted them from the Capitol building amidst a throng of onlookers.
If convicted, prosecutors said, Congress would be officially deemed the most prolific killers in the nation’s history."
That's hilarious because it's true.

Big government Boehner ousts small government supporters from committees and stacks them with big government Republicans like himself to insure that Obama's agenda gets enacted with no dissent. What's obvious here is Republicans would rather hold a minority share in the big government loot that become the majority power reducing the loot.

Boortz does a good job updating Obama's narcissism. That's going to know no bounds for the next four years.

Here's a nice comparison of the good cop/bad cop police tactic to the good party/bad party routine used by Republicans and Democrats to divide and conquer us. it seem funny because the first operates against one individual while the latter works against the whole population, but the whole population is 310 million individuals.
"The party that is out of power acts as the Good Cop. The party in power is the Bad Cop who's blatantly crushing your freedom and individuality."
This is half wrong. The party in power plays the good cop to its base, and the party out of power plays good cop to its base. Neither try to play bad cop to the other's base, but both make that case, very convincingly. In fact, both parties do a better job of painting the other as the bad cop than they do projecting themselves as the good cop. Still, it's an interesting analogy, and the most important aspect is both parties, like both cops, are working together to advance their interests at the expense of the rest of us.

I think Pat Buchanan is losing his marbles over these differences in America. Americans have always disagreed about gun rights, welfare, war, etc. The only difference between today and yesterday is a majority supports oppression, whereas in the past, a majority resisted oppression. He's write about the self-destruction, but he's wrong about the cause. It has nothing to do with group identity. It has everything to do with miseducation by government schools.

Why do libertarians used euphemisms for plutocrats. They're just plutocrats. We already have a perfect word. Use it; don't confuse it.

Catalonian secessionists gain majority in regional parliament. Since Americans seceded from Britain 230 years ago or so, you might think Americans would support Catalonians for doing the same. Don't hold your breath. Remember the war between states?
