Remember when Egyptians revolted because they wanted to freedom? The new Egyptian government just censored a newspaper for insulting the president.
How's that new government working out? Meet the new president. Same as the old president."The paper, a tabloid owned by a Christian businessman, has been fiercely critical of Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood while showing strong support for the military council, which took power after the ouster of Hosni Mubarak in last year's uprising. Both Morsi and the military council are in midst of power struggle.Saturday's edition featured a lengthy front-page article warning of a Brotherhood "emirate" seizing Egypt and calling on Egyptians to join ranks with the military to confront Islamists. The lawsuits also accuse the paper of inflammatory coverage of recent sectarian violence."
ECONOMY:
Analysis beyond government's propaganda numbers shows our economy is in rapid decline.
"A good starting point for anyone interested in parsing government numbers is to assume that any number publicized by government is a lie."That's great advice.
REGULATION:
Android is overtaking Apple in the smart-phone market. Apple isn't winning in the marketplace, so they're trying to use the police power of government in the form of patent lawsuits to overcome their competition.
HEALTH CARE:
A doctor tells the truth about cancer research.
"The Powers-That–Be in the cancer fundraising world--such as the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the Komen Foundation--would have you believe we are making progress against cancer. However, we are not making any respectable progress. In fact, over the last 60 years, more and more people are diagnosed with cancer and more are dying from it. The Powers-That-Be are too busy fundraising and promoting faulty diagnostic tests such as mammograms instead of promoting research to determine the underlying cause of cancer and how to avoid getting cancer. This is because these bureaucrats and researchers profit from cancer and are funded by stolen money. If they cured it, or otherwise eliminated it, they would lose their jobs.
...We know that ionizing radiation causes cancer, including breast cancer. It is ludicrous to recommend yearly mammograms when, after 10 years of annual mammograms, a woman’s breasts have been exposed to the same amount of ionizing radiation that a woman received one mile from the nuclear blast at Hiroshima."
This post is hilarious. The author makes the case that, because our ancestors ate a lot of meat, they out-competed vegetarian relatives, but she concludes by advising people should avoid meat today. I'm sure the establishment is paying her well. It reads as if her editor forced her to put that last paragraph in to appease the powers-that-be.
An article and a video show how our diets became so unhealthy.
GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:
We'll know when recycling becomes worthwhile because it will become profitable.
A ton of data and analysis shows that droughts are no more frequent nor worse now than at any point in the last century.
"Taken in toto these facts and data say to me that the “scientific fact” promoted by Dr. Hansen is pure political hogwash.I've advocated NASA fire Hansen for years, but this is the first time I've seen Watts call for it. Good for him.
PNAS should withdraw the paper, and NASA should fire Dr. Hansen for promoting an opinion unsupported by data as “scientific fact”."
WAR:
US and Turkey discussing a no fly zone over Syria. We know how well that worked out in Iraq and Libya.
Archive of articles on Israeli involvement in 9/11. What did the Israeli's know?
"Fox News' Carl Cameron, in May 2002, also reported warnings by Israel: "Based on its own intelligence, the Israeli government provided 'general' information to the United States in the second week of August that an al-Qaeda attack was imminent". The U.S. government later claimed these warnings were not specific enough to allow any mitigating action to be taken. Mossad expert Gordon Thomas, author of Gideon's Spies, says German intelligence sources told him that as late as August 2001 Israeli spies in the United States had made surveillance contacts with "known supporters of bin Laden in the U.S.A. It was those surveillance contacts that later raised the question: how much prior knowledge did Mossad have and at what stage?""The other question is, if Mossad was monitoring these guys, why wasn't the FBI?
"According to Die Zeit, the Mossad did provide the U.S. government with the names of suspected terrorists Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, who would eventually hijack the Pentagon plane. It is worth noting that Mihdhar and Hazmi were among the hijackers who operated in close proximity to Israeli "art students" in Hollywood, Florida, and to the Urban Moving Systems Israelis in northern New Jersey. Moreover, Hazmi and at least three "art students" visited Oklahoma City on almost the same dates, from April 1 through April 4, 2001. On August 24, 2001, a day after the Mossad's briefing, Mihdhar and Hazmi were placed by the CIA on a terrorist watch list; additionally, it was only after the Mossad warning, as reported by Die Zeit, that the CIA, on August 27, informed the FBI of the presence of the two terrorists. But by then the cell was already in hiding, preparing for attack."Apparently the Israelis knew where they were hiding.
Pentagon researching genetically engineered soldiers that will slavishly obey any order. Yikes.
RNC dumps Louisiana Paul delegates in favor of Romney supporters who never ran to be delegates. Hopefully, in addition to educating people about the real issues being covered up in America, Paul's campaign has exposed that our nomination process is a complete fraud.
FOREIGN POLICY:
The new Egyptian president fires two generals and quashes military restrictions on his power. Apparently he's taking charge.
POLITICS:
Romney to serve up sanitized Ron Paul tribute video and Rand Paul speaking slot at convention in return for peace from Paul supporters.
LOCAL:
Paul Ryan graduated from Miami University.
MISC:
For decades, scientists told us that Mars had no internal heat. Now they tell us it has plate tectonics. I'm skeptical.
