Free kibbles

ECONOMY:

Facebook shares drop below IPO price. Is this just about Facebook, or is this the start of the collapse of the new internet bubble?

TAX AND SPEND:

Remember when Americans overwhelming elected Republicans to curb government spending and balance the budget? They didn't.
"Since that March 4, 2011 bipartisan continuing resolution, the federal government has been funded by a series of bipartisan deals cut between the White House and congressional leaders.
In the meanwhile, under these bipartisan spending deals, according to official figures published by the U.S. Treasury, the federal debt has climbed from $14,182,627,184,881.03 to $15,708,753,671,767.64.
That is an increase of $1,526,126,486,886.61.
Given that the Census Bureau estimates there are about 117,538,000 households in the United States, the per household increase in the federal debt since Congress enacted its March 4, 2011 bipartisan spending deal has been approximately $12,984."
They never do. If you want to stop the looting, you have to stop voting for Republicans as well as Democrats.

New study discovers that Obama's stimulus boondoggle was used for political gain, not economic stimulus. This is true of all government spending. What the researchers fail to grasp is that it's impossible to stimulate the economy by stealing money from others no matter who you give it to.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Since 2008, the feds have spent nearly $70 billion on "climate change activities".

After Obama was nearly defeated by a convict in West Virginia, Republicans are stepping up their attacks on him regarding his war on coal in hopes of buying votes in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

This is a very true statement: carbon (CO2) is the currently of life. Increasing CO2 creates a boom. Decreasing it creates a bust.

WAR ON DRUGS:

Now the war on drugs has led to teens drinking hand-sanitizer. How much more damage will the prohibitionists cause before we they see the error of their ways?
"No civilized country other than the United States prohibits 18-year-olds from buying beer. That clearly indicates that our 21-year-old drinking age is uncivilized. All the other countries with 21-year-old laws are repressive, nasty dictatorships. Apparently, that is the crowd we agree with when it comes to young adults and alcohol. No one should be surprised that our teens revolt against this and do stupid things like drinking hand sanitizer. The national drinking-age law should be repealed, state laws should be reduced, and parents should be free to serve alcohol to their children."
Absolutely.

POLICE STATE:

TSA busts pilot for carrying a firearm onto his flight. The TSA is incompetent on both sides. On the one side it busts a responsible man who wants to protect his airplane using his own handgun. On the other hand, this pilot has carried his firearm on seven flights without it being detected by TSA.

The federal government and Massachusetts police conspire to steal a family's livelihood.

Bill proposes to remove the restrictions on government propaganda used against Americans. As if we didn't get enough government propaganda every time we turned on the news.

How many times have I said that the most dangerous situation the vast majority of Americans will ever suffer is run-in with a cop? I've seen a couple of people write that, and I've noted it every time, but apparently this is becoming common wisdom.
"It has been said – and I agree – that the typical person (i.e., the person just trying to get through the day, do their thing) has more to fear from a cop than a (non-official, non-uniformed) criminal."
People are waking up, but they're waking up more slowly than the rate the government is destroying our country.

WAR:

Statistics show war on terror is a fraud as only 15 Americans were killed by terrorists in 2010.
"Fifteen (15) according to the U.S. government's 2010 Report on Terrorism, the most comprehensive of its kind. Of these, thirteen (13) were in Afghanistan, one (1) in Iraq, and one (1) in Uganda."
None in the US. Far more people die from lightning strikes, but we don't use lightning as an excuse to steal hundreds of billions from taxpayers and destroy rights.

FOREIGN POLICY:

In praise of freedom and motorcycles in Acapulco.

POLITICS:

Mark Steyn takes on Obama over this 1991 literary bio claiming he was born in Kenya. Remember when Obama and his stooges acted like birthers were crazy?
"So the lunatic theory that Barack Obama doesn’t meet the minimum eligibility requirements to be president of the United States was first advanced by Barack Obama’s official representative. Where did she get that wacky idea from? “This was nothing more than a fact-checking error by me,” says Obama’s literary agent Miriam Goderich, a “fact” that went so un-“checked” that it stayed up on her agency’s website in the official biography of her by-then-famous client up until 2007: “He was born in Kenya to an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister.”
And then in April 2007, someone belatedly decided to “check” the 16-year-old “fact” and revised the biography, a few weeks into the now non-Kenyan’s campaign for the presidency. Fancy that!"
He also pokes fun pasty white Cherokee Elisabeth Warren.

Rasmussen recognizes that Obama's re-election is all about the economy. All the other stuff is just noise. Sometimes entertaining noise, but noise none-the-less.

Pretty charts highlight Obama's failures.

Fabulous satire about how Obama and Romney have teamed up to form a single party, and the only politician who opposes them is Ron Paul.

MEDIA:

Pat Buchanan asks a significant question: what happens if Zimmerman is found not guilty? After the race rage the media fueled, I doubt it can calm it down, even if the propagandists want to.

MISC:

Chrome becomes the world's leading browser. I quit using it because it's such a memory hog.

The Keynesians have been fraudulently using the GDP statistic against us for decades as far as I remember, and probably longer. The GDP statistic is a tautology: GDP = Consumption + Investment + Government spending + (Exports - Imports [US trade balance]). Since production (GDP), can't instantly change, that means increasing government spending produces reduced Consumption, Investment and/or balance of trade. All of these things are bad, therefore increasing government spending is bad.

Proposal for a doomsday clock for totalitarianism.
