BAN ALERT:

Big Nanny in New York wants to ban big sodas.

SOCIALISM:

The problem with unions: good workers get punished. So do average workers. Because of coercion, unions only work for union king pins, their thugs and poor workers. That's why unions are almost extinct.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Three EU committees reject ACTA. Apparently the anti-IP backlash is growing.

The US government rejects surrendering its control over the internet to the UN. Believe it or not, this is a good thing.

ECONOMY:

I ofter wonder why our economy hasn't collapsed sooner.
"That the whole democratic house of cards has not yet completely collapsed speaks volumes about the still tremendous creative power of capitalism, even in the face of ever-increasing governmental strangulation. And this fact also allows us to conjecture about what economic ‘miracles’ would be possible if we had unimpeded capitalism liberated from such parasitism."
There's no doubt about that. But there's more to it. Mises explained the three phases of inflation:
"Mises explained the three phases of inflation. In the first phase people save as before, because they believe that prices will either stabilize or fall to previous levels. In the second phase people accelerate their spending, because they see that their money deteriorates over time. In the third phase people exchange their money for whatever they can–the flight to real value. This is the crack-up boom."
It's coming. So far it hasn't come because, despite our deepening economic catastrophe, the US still looks like a safe haven compared to Europe.

TAX AND SPEND:

High taxes are driving people out of Maryland.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

POLICE STATE:

POLITICS:

Apparently John Edwards still has enough clout to manage a hung jury on five counts. I guarantee you that trail has even more corruption than the standard, every day trial. Just like the media didn't want to talk about his affair and their cover-up for years, I bet they won't talk about his jury tampering and their cover-up for more years.

Democrats expect Walker to win his recall election in Wisconsin, so they're trying to downplay the significance.

Remember when Obama's stooges staged that bogus women's birth control hearing and as a result he did so well with women? Now Romney is doing well with women. What changed? Romney became the defacto Republican nominee. Now it's the terrible Obama versus one specific guy who everybody believes will be less bad. I don't know how Obama can stage a significant, phony economic recovery - he and Bernanke are doing well at staging a tepid, phony recovery - but if he can't figure it out, he's going to lose.

If you ever want a reminder that the country is racing to the left, a former Democrat rising star, a Congressional Black Caucus member, has joined the Republican party. Show me a Republican who doesn't support all of ten of Karl Marx's communist planks plus government-run health care. Everybody in Congress supports Marx's policies. They're all leftists.

MEDIA:

The media investigates Romney's birth certificate. I can't help but laugh. You can't make this stuff up. I bet these media people laugh their asses off over drinks at how they play us for fools and get away with it.

SOCIALISM:

Public unions get desperate.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION:

Remember how liberals always claim that church and state must be separated? A.G. Holder to brief hundreds of black pastors on how to re-elect President Obama. The separation of church and state is only for other people.

ECONOMY:

The housing bubble in Atlanta continues to deflate.

Big drop in consumer confidence in May. I keep why wondering why it isn't dropping further, faster.

TAX AND SPEND:

High taxes drive people out of New York.

California government sells 9/11 license plates, promising to give the proceeds to the families of victims, but then steals $3 million out of the fund to pay off some of its debt.

Chemicals that mimic hormones found in breast cancer tissue samples.

Collapsing Spanish government ends green energy subsidies, bubble pops, companies leave. This is good news for the Spanish people. Entrepreneurs will now create cheap energy and profitable jobs with the freed up resources, boosting the Spanish economy.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Old photos show Greenland used to be warmer than today in the not very distant past.

POLITICS:

I think Trump is supporting Trump.

Some still speculate Rand Paul for VP. If he took that spot, I would hard pressed to ever vote for him if he ran for President in the future.

Democrats ramp up spending to recall Scott Walker one week before the election.

LOCAL:

Local politicians fail to meet legal requirement for financial disclosures. I'm sure this same story happens all across the country. This is just another example that laws are for peasants, not rulers. None of these people will suffer from breaking the law.
"Failure to file a form eventually results in misdemeanor charges, Nick said.
But first, the board sent letters to non-filers reminding them of their duties. A warning will follow, then a $10-per- day fine, then an ethics commission hearing and eventually court filings. The process takes months.

Do you think our rulers would be as reasonable with you if you broke the law?

Massive theft of tools illustrates ubiquitous government corruption.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

The Dutch House of Representatives unanimously rejects ACTA and any attempts to restrict freedom on the internet. This is another good reminder that the US is one of the least free countries in the world.

EU commission intends to end the net neutrality waiting game. The use of that phrase is telling. Our rulers see all their rules as inevitable. Sometimes they have to spend more effort on the propaganda before they can enact them, but they do that work, and the inevitable becomes reality.

ECONOMY:

The Facebook IPO illustrates how the ruling class rig the stock market to loot average investors.

New study shows big government hinders economic growth. The more studies like this we see, the better.

TAX AND SPEND:

Nearly half of Americans receive government entitlement checks.
"The official figure is 49.1%, who are living in a house receiving at least one government benefit. That 49.1% figure is up from 30% in the early 1980s and up from 44.4% in just 2008!"
Obviously this is a shot at Obama, but it's equally obvious those numbers increased under Republican administrations too.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

The reason the slow-motion Greek bank run hasn't turned into a full speed bank run is people the ECB will bail out Greek banks. They keep saying a Greek exit would be a worse problem than a bailout, but they're wrong. The bailouts just keep making the problem worse. The sooner countries start pullling out of the euro, the better for everybody.

Here's another sign the demise of the euro is imminent:
"The euro is in trouble. That is not news. What is news is that people with deep pockets are willing to pay for economists to provide a solution. Lord Wolfson has offered a £250,000 prize for the best way a country can exit the European Monetary Union (EMU). Five finalists for the prize were announced in March. The winner will be announced in June."
Smart money is trying to figure out how to get out of the euro.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Eco-terrorists attacking nuclear and nano-tech engineers and equipment.

POLICE STATE:

Obama has final say on who the government assassinates. Are you on the list? Is your daughter on the list?
"This was the enemy, served up in the latest chart from the intelligence agencies: 15 Qaeda suspects in Yemen with Western ties. The mug shots and brief biographies resembled a high school yearbook layout. Several were Americans. Two were teenagers, including a girl who looked even younger than her 17 years."
Obama an equal opportunity killer. Obama undoubtedly leaked all this info to make himself look like a strong president, but it might backfire with his base.

WAR:

Goering told the truth.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
It's too easy.

Some government has unleashed the most complex piece of spyware ever created that specifically targets Iran, Palestine, Hungary  and Lebanon. I wonder who could have done that.

FOREIGN POLICY:

It looks like Putin has decided to appease Obama instead of standing up for Assad, which makes perfect sense. Obama can do far more to advance Putin's interests than Assad.

This report of Israeli riots against African immigrants sounds frighteningly similar to how German brownshirts treated Jews.

Bill Krystol brags about purging Arab realists from the Republican party, turning the party into a tool for the Israel lobby.
"Kristol's point: Refuse to toe the neo-con line on Israel, and you have no future in the Republican Party.
Ben Ami seemed equally exultant: "We've won the war; we won the war," he told the audience. Ninety-nine percent of Congress now votes almost 100 percent pro-Israel."
The most powerful nation on earth has become a tool for a tiny country half way around the world. How's this foreign policy worked out for us?
"U.S. influence in the Middle East is at a nadir. Al-Qaida has spread into Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Syria and North Africa."
How is that good for us.

POLITICS:

Republican establishment pulling shenanigans on Ron Paul delegates.

Obama is getting pressure to change his campaign slogan from the socialist "Forward".

Romney tops delegate requirements with win in Texas.

Bilderberg is meeting in Virginia.
"The last time they met in the US was an election year, 2008 – and the world got Obama. This year they’re back in the US: will they decide who the next president will be?
When in 2008 they gathered from June 5 to 8 in Chantilly, Virginia – just a stone’s throw from the Washington DC – Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were neck-in-neck in the battle for the Democratic Party’s presidential candidacy.
On June 5 of that year, Barack and Hillary mysteriously “disappeared” for some hours “somewhere in the DC area.” Their agendas blocked out, they clearly sneaked off to “Meet the Bilderbergers.”
The media kept mum about that, save for an Associated Press report on the campaign trail saying that, "reporters traveling with Obama sensed something might be happening between the pair (i.e. Obama and Hillary) when they arrived at Dulles International Airport after an event in Northern Virginia and Obama was not aboard the airplane. Asked at the time about the Illinois Senator's whereabouts, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs smiled and declined to comment." (The AP dispatch “Obama and Clinton meet, discuss uniting Democrats” is, strangely, “no longer available” on their website).
Be that as it may, two days later, Hillary withdrew from the race and Obama became the presidential candidate."
I'm sure Romney will suck up to them too.

MEDIA:

Adding to my skepticism about reports from Syrian, the BBC was busted using a photo from Iraq to slander the Syrian government. Contrary to the initial reports, it turns out most victims were summarily executed, not killed by artillery. The media can't get the story straight. It sounds like they started with the story of death by heavy weaponry because only governments have heavy weaponry. Then we discovered the US and its allies recently supplied the rebels with heavy weaponry, so now they're changing the story.

The Planet Green channel has been transformed into the Destination America channel. Obviously Planet Green would have been aligned with Democrats. I just saw two of Obama's cabinet secretaries doing a commercial on Destination America. It looks like this channel is propaganda arm for Democrats too.

LOCAL:

For goodness sakes, get the golf carts and other mini-vehicles off the streets. Don't encourage them. Who in the world would think it's a good idea to mix these vehicles with cars and trucks?

MISC:

Updating the casualty count for the Civil War.
"Since the turn of the 20th century historians have used the 620,000 number as the "official" death toll of the War to Prevent Southern Independence; 300,000 Southerners and 320,000 Northerners. In addition, at least 50,000 Southern civilians were murdered. The 620,000 figure is greater than the number of all Americans who died in all other wars combined, up to the present day. In addition, it is relevant that the population of the U.S. was about one tenth of what it is today. Thus, standardizing for today's population, it would be the equivalent of 6.2 million American war deaths in four years. The number of combatants who were maimed for life was more than double the number of deaths. In a couple of years after the war the state of Mississippi spent almost its entire state government budget on artificial limbs. The history profession is rapidly accepting an updated number of 750,000 war deaths, however."
Crazy.

SOCIALISM:

I just got an email claiming that 1 in 8 of every new private sector job is being created in Indiana because Indiana adopted a right to work law. I believe it. This is why unions fought that law so hard. It's why they fought reforms in Wisconsin so hard. Unions know, because they have the power of coercion gifted to them by government, they're looters. They know that every reform expose that, so they mobilize national resources to fight these local reforms.
"This is just the latest in a growing body of evidence on the economic advantages of Right to Work laws, not to mention the strong moral case that workers should never be compelled to support a union against their will."
I agree, and I think we should mention the moral case over and over and over every opportunity we can. I think libertarians lost so much by focusing on the practical instead of the moral and just using the practical as backup.
"In one of their most absurd arguments, union lawyers actually contend that Indiana's Right to Work law violates the U.S. Constitution's prohibition on slavery."
They've proven, as many before, the Orwell quote that "Truth is treason in an empire of lies." This breakthrough in Indiana threatens to snowball like the concealed carry law did in Florida. The benefits are so profound they cannot be denied. That's why unions will do anything to turn it back.

ECONONY:

By what standard is the IT industry hurting for women? It he right number 22.18471089461290641987649 percent? Or is it 35.2863460200293643 percent? How do we know? Is the mining industry hurting for women? Is the MLB industry hurting for women because it has 0 percent of the market? What a bunch of crap.

TAX AND SPEND:

Romney admits he isn't going to cut spending because it would hurt the economy.

A couple of local treasurers have figured out how to share. Most of us learn that as children, but government officials are usually the most selfish and sociopathic individuals in society, so they don't cooperate well with others. Why share when you can legally steal anything you want? It's nice see the people have forced them to learn to share and they have managed to do it.

REGULATION:

Corporations establish patent troll. I'm not so sure this is big news.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

In this article defending tax havens, this guy does a terrible job advocating for them.
"Maybe it is prudent to clarify that numbered Swiss accounts do not exist and indeed never have. Tax havens do not allow you to deposit suitcases full of money with no questions asked. They are all regulated and have KYC procedures which are internationally approved and they all report criminal activity if detected."
Why are they regulated? Why don't they let me deposit a suitcase full of money with no questions asked? Why don't they let me store my gun there? They don't sound free at all.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Yet another paper shows that there's no relationship between extreme weather and global warming. These papers are coming fast and furious just like papers supporting the connection between solar activity and climate change. It's like a dam has broken. I don't know whether the climate frauds have lost their grip on the peer review process or whether honest scientists have developed a different method of publishing that circumvents that corrupted process.

WAR:

The US military performed a joint military training operation with 90 countries in Tampa, site of the upcoming Republican convention.
"The US military staged a mock drill in violation of 130+ years of the Posse Comitatus Act that bars domestic forces from active use on US soil. It wasn't just the US, either. Some 90 nations supposedly participated in the drill, which aimed to "rescue" Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, supposedly kidnapped by terrorists. There were helicopters overhead and a tactical assault showed up by water. Then special ops teams invaded a "terrorist village" near the Convention Center and rescued the mayor, who said he was grateful."
This seems like an intimidation tactic. Maybe they think people will be comforted by this, but I doubt it.

Cuts in defense spending might be disastrous for defense contractors, but they would good for the American people.

There seems to be a problem with dealing with PTSD in the military. They don't seem to understand it. Let me guess. The resources to deal with PTSD are probably allocated based on statistics of past wars. But our current wars aren't like past wars. Many more soldiers survive, thank goodness. But a much higher percentage of casualties lose limbs. I'm sure a much higher percentage suffer PTSD too. The military bureaucracy and the self-servicing Congress have yet to adapt to the destruction they've wrought on the young men who managed to survive their wars of conquest.
"“The Army clearly realizes they have a nationwide, systematic problem on their hands,” Murray said in a statement. “But the bottom line is that the Army needs to fix the inconsistencies we have seen in diagnosing the invisible wounds of war.”"
This pretense of incompetence covering for gross, aggressive, systematic immorality breaks my heart. More info:
"The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has increased its mental health staff 41 percent since 2007 and increased money spent on mental health care by 39 percent since 2009.
The agency has budgeted $6.2 billion on mental health for the next fiscal year. Still, veterans complain about getting treatment, specifically wait times. Their complaints were supported by a VA report that the agency’s claim that veterans who need first-time mental health evaluations are seen within 14 days as “not accurate or reliable.”
The report concluded less than half the veterans are seen within 14 days, and most have to wait an average of 50 days."
Or rulers make our troops suffer in wars of aggression, then they make them suffer when they come home traumatized. I expect nothing less from the sociopaths running our country.

FOREIGN POLICY:

Claim that Jews are driving Christians out of Israel.
"This morning our pastor, a frequent pilgrim to the Holy Land, recounted how hard it is to be a Christian there these days. Where the population of the Holy Land was 37% Christian just fifteen years ago, today it has fallen to one percent, he said."
I'd like to see a reference.

Syria denies massacring 90. Who did it? Was it the criminal Syrian government? Was it the criminal rebels? Was it forces of criminal western governments? We have no way to know for sure. But we know history, and we can learn from it. Our government has been so criminal for so long, it's killed so many people all over the world for decades, it's likely that Assad is telling the truth and this massacre was orchestrated by the US, western, Israeli and client governments in the middle east. One of the clues is this over-the-top condemnation by Netanyahu. Another clue is this claim by US client government's in the middle east that they will arm the rebels, which they've been doing for a long time.
"The U.S. and European nations say they will not intervene militarily, and while Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Libya have said they will arm Syria's rebels, no country is known to be doing so."
No country is known to be doing so? This Israeli newspaper begs to differ.
"Saudi Arabia is arming Syrian rebels locked in a year-long rebellion against Syrian President Bashar Assad, a senior Arab diplomat told AFP Saturday."
But in this case, you don't have to go to Israel for the real story. The Washington Post reported two weeks ago
"Syrian rebels battling the regime of President Bashar al-Assad have begun receiving significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, an effort paid for by Persian Gulf nations and coordinated in part by the United States, according to opposition activists and U.S. and foreign officials."
Maybe it's a coincidence this massacre occurred right after the US government, via its client governments in the middle east, provided more and better weapons to the rebels, but more likely the rebels have used these more and better weapons to massacre a bunch of civilians including 30-some children and blamed the Syrian government. Assuming I'm right, because I'm confident I am, let's follow the money. Via our government, US taxpayers send money and weapons to Saudi Arabia. Under directions from the US government, Saudi Arabia sends some of that money and some of those weapons to rebels in Syria. The Syrian rebels then use that money and those weapons to kill civilians including 30-some children. Can you see how the families of the people killed might want to retaliate against us for funding the murder of their family members? Now do you understand why people in the middle east want to kill us and mount terrorist attacks against us?

US policy in Pakistan is not working at best.
"In March, a joint session of Pakistan’s parliament unanimously approved resolutions calling for an end to U.S. drone strikes, “hot pursuit” military raids and the use of Pakistani airspace for the transport of arms and ammunition into Afghanistan. The proposals, sharply at odds with U.S. policies, reflect a divergence of interests between the two countries that existed long before last year’s Navy SEAL raid against Osama bin Laden.
There is little evidence that U.S. aid has ever served its interests in Pakistan — and, unfortunately, ample evidence that much of it has been funneled to U.S. enemies. A year before 9/11, Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf declared at a news conference, “Afghanistan’s majority ethnic Pashtuns have to be on our side... This is our national interest... The Taliban cannot be alienated by Pakistan.”"
More likely it's counterproductive. Like pretty much all US foreign policy of coercion, this won't end well.

POLITICS:

Rand Paul did what he had to do and endorsed Mitt Romney.

I love this:
"Ron Paul 'bloodless coup' in Minnesota takes most delegates. Now what?
Ron Paul won 12 of 13 delegates in Minnesota's state GOP convention. If Mitt Romney has the nomination all but tied up and Paul has effectively ended his campaign, why continue the fight?"
Because freedom matters. Because we don't want another four years of big, growing, warfare, welfare government. Give me a reason why, other than some archaic political custom or decree by government propagandists, freedom lovers should stop fighting.

LOCAL:

The Dayton Daily News really reaches to find some good news:
"Slow economy, high gas prices ease traffic jams"
That's too funny.

Here's a headline that really exposes the higher education bubble:
"More head to college, even as tuition surges"
One of the laws of economics tells us that, if prices rise, demand falls. This is a bubble.

MISC:

The Onion captures the essence of Spurs basketball and why it's so fun to watch contrary to what pundits want us to believe.
"In arenas, sports bars, and homes throughout the country, the San Antonio Spurs' dominating run through the playoffs has transfixed the nation with the breathtaking spectacle of their pass-screen-pass-shoot offense. "There they go, passing, doing a screen, passing again, and shooting the ball!" said South Dakota resident Roger Siler as he reviewed Spurs highlights on his computer. "Sometimes you think they won't pass it that second time, but then they do. They almost always do! And then they shoot the ball, scoring points. Wow." Perhaps even more thrilling is the fact that before viewers can get a chance to catch their breath, Americans say, the Spurs then get back on defense."
The Spurs pass the ball efficiently, hit the open man, and the open man tends to hit shots. Then the Spurs get back on defense and force their opponents to take difficult, contested shots. That's how basketball is supposed to be played. It's fun to watch. But because they're a small market team, the talking heads constantly claim they're not fun to watch. That's bull. If this exact same team played in New York, those same talking heads would talk about how exciting they are to watch, how they put on clinics, and how every parent and child should watch them for their unselfishness, the way they execute, the way they break down defenses, make the extra pass then hit the shot. Tim Duncan would be considered the indisputable best player of his generation. Lately they've been running more isolations for Duncan, and that's not as fun to watch. I bet they do the same against OKC because the Thunder have nobody who can guard him.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Every day freedom loses 100, conservatively battled, but sometimes we win one. In this case, a judge in Florida ruled that flashing one's lights to another as a signal that a trap was upcoming was an exercise of freedom of speech. Of course it is. The founding fathers couldn't anticipate cars or all these things,  so they protected communication. They didn't have any better words for it, and flashing lights is an obvious form of communication.

ECONOMY:

The skyscraper index warns of a global economic crisis.

The Dow is down 74. Big deal. It's like we're in a reverse chicken little situation. The sky is falling, and it's getting worse every day, but the markets refuse to believe it. It's like they think God is going to intervene on their behalf or something. In 2008, when a smaller financial problem hit, the stock market list nearly half its value. You would think people would still remember that and not get burned again.

Mark Cuban blames mobile for Facebook's IPO failure as if he's the only smart guy in the room and none of the smart people around Facebook noticed that mobile devices have rapidly gained marketshare. How convenient. I blame the bursting of the latest internet bubble. This is a harbinger of the collapse of many sectors of our economy, much more so than the bursting of the original dot.com bubble which I was too ignorant to understand at the time. At least Cuban, to his credit, mentions the bursting of this bubble.

TAX AND SPEND:

If you look at the government spending using normal accounting practices, the deficit is four times worse than the government reports.
"The big difference between the official deficit and standard accounting: Congress exempts itself from including the cost of promised retirement benefits. Yet companies, states and local governments must include retirement commitments in financial statements, as required by federal law and private boards that set accounting rules.
The deficit was $5 trillion last year under those rules. The official number was $1.3 trillion. Liabilities for Social Security, Medicare and other retirement programs rose by $3.7 trillion in 2011, according to government actuaries, but the amount was not registered on the government's books."
It's good to be the king.

Politicians like to talk about failed states overseas, but what about California and Illinois? Compare to Wisconsin which is enjoying the benefits of reforming public union benefits.

Harry Reid and his Senate Democrats refuse to deal with huge tax increases that are scheduled to occur on Jan 1 after the election. They're holding Americans hostage, and we're so stupid, we gave them the power to do so.

Boortz tries to take credit for Ron Paul's declaration that fences will be used to keep Americans inside, not keep other out.

I saw this the other day, and I yawned.
"Your tax dollars at work: A $1 million conference for judges in Hawaii, which includes a schedule of sport fishing, yoga, surfing lessons and Zumba dancing lessons."
Hello. This has gone on for every appeals court in the country for years or decades. There's nothing new about this. This is the norm. It' the rule. Boortz is a lawyer and a media guy. He knows it's the norm. The only reason he would bring this up now is because he's in the bag for the Republican crooks. You're losing the last vestiges of credibility on this crap. Maybe I'm giving you too much credit. In libertarians circles, you don't have any credibility. Be honest. You're a shill for big government Republicans like Rush Limbaugh.

REGULATION:

FEDERAL RESERVE:

It's not only Greeks who are taking their money out banks.
"It is not only Greeks who are worried about their savings. Data shows depositors have also taken flight from banks in Belgium, France and Italy. And on Thursday, Spain's Bankia was reported to have seen more than 1 billion euros drained by its customers in the past week."
The end of euro is nearing quickly. Standard & Poors downgrades five Spanish banks.
"It’s not looking good for the Spanish banking system. Standard & Poor’s just slashed the credit ratings of five banks and said the country is headed into a double-dip recession. One of them, Bankia, just asked the government for 19 billion euros in aid - a roughly $23.8 billion boost.
That makes it the largest bank bailout in Spain’s history. Combined with escalating concerns that Greece is about to execute its so-called Grexit from the euro currency, the news is doing nothing to alleviate the heightened anxiety in the euro zone."
If there's so much anxiety, how come nobody is selling? Is the Fed printing money, giving it to Goldman Sachs and its other too big  to fail agents and instructing them to keep the stock market up? I hope regular people are getting out of the market.

EDUCATION:

I'm surprised that a government school teacher has been suspended for telling a student he or she could be arrested for criticizing Obama. This is a true statement. I realize the Constitution says otherwise, but there's no doubt that people are being arrested for criticizing Obama just like they were arrested for criticizing Bush. This is the country we live in. I'm thankful this teacher was suspended, but this is one instance. The general rule is, if you criticize the president, you can be arrested and imprisoned indefinitely.

HEALTH CARE:

Rand Paul thinks the FDA doesn't need armed agents, and I agree.

More doctors refuse Medicaid customers because of low payments. This may seem smart now, but when the government nationalizes doctors, they won't think it was so smart.

Americans are slowly waking up to dangers of GM food, and they want labels. Naturally, government's GM producing corporations don't want those labels. I don't believe the two sides will kiss.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

More on how the hockey stick was created by cherry-picking tree ring data from Yamal.

The EPA tells Arizona it has too much sand in the air. Maybe Minnesota, land of 1,000 lakes, has too much water on the ground too. Note to EPA, much of Arizona is desert. You can't make this stuff up.

Obama's war on coal has severely cut coal power production, leading to higher electric prices.
"The market-clearing price for new 2015 capacity – almost all natural gas – was $136 per megawatt. That’s eight times higher than the price for 2012, which was just $16 per megawatt. In the mid-Atlantic area covering New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and DC the new price is $167 per megawatt. For the northern Ohio territory served by FirstEnergy, the price is a shocking $357 per megawatt."
Holy crap.
"Why the massive price increases? Andy Ott from PJM stated the obvious: “Capacity prices were higher than last year's because of retirements of existing coal-fired generation resulting largely from environmental regulations which go into effect in 2015.” Northern Ohio is suffering from more forced coal-plant retirements than the rest of the region, hence the even higher price."
Here's one of the few promises Obama kept. He's doing a fine job of collapsing the US economy just like he planned.

Obama pressured companies to change their numbers to hide job losses his polices have created in the coal power plant industry. Why would they do this? It's like I've written elsewhere: they have nothing to gain. It's like kneeling down so Obama can cut off their heads. On the one hand I'm skeptical. On the other, I'm sure Obama promised them a long tortuous death if they refused the clean assassination.

Government exists for the purpose of looting the people, so nobody should be surprised that a company which received $1.2 billion in stolen taxpayer dollars from Obama turned around and bundled millions in gifts, I mean campaign contributions, for him.

WAR:

Iranian President Ahmadinejad claims Islam forbids nuclear weapons. Pakistan's rulers obviously disagree.

It looks like Iran has some minor technical issues with radiation higher than 20 percent, but hawks will use this as evidence the US must attack.
"Analysts as well as diplomats who had told the AP of the existence of the traces before publication of the confidential report also said the higher-enriched material could have been a mishap involving centrifuges over-performing as technicians adjusted their output rather than a dangerous step toward building a bomb."
If it says that in the article, it's likely true. Articles generally exaggerate threats to sell and to boost the establishment, not downplay them.

Eric Margolis presents the truth about consequences of the Afghan war:
"The western forces that occupied Afghanistan in 2001 have failed to achieve their military or political objectives and are now sounding the retreat.
All the empty oratory in Chicago about "transition," Afghan self-reliance, and growing security could not conceal the truth that the mighty US and its dragooned western allies have been bested in Afghanistan by a bunch of mountain warriors from the 12th Century."
Oops. I bet western ruler are very disappointed.
"All Afghans know the western powers have been defeated. Those with sense are already making deals with Taliban. Vengeance being a cherished Afghan custom, those who collaborated closely with the foreign forces can expect little mercy."
I bet the US government refuses to accept Karzai. This is a brutally honest assessment of our government's excesses.
"To wage and sustain the Afghan War, the US has been forced to virtually occupy Pakistan, bribe its high officials, and force Islamabad to follow policies hated by 95% of its people, generating virulent anti-Americanism. The Afghan War must be ended before it tears apart Pakistan and plunges South Asia into crisis into which nuclear-armed India and Pakistan confront one another."
Did I mention excesses?

POLITICS:

Another piece of documentation showing Obama's socialist outlook.

Leftist like the cool capitalists like Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah and others. While cool certainly matters, so does being self-made. Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and that's about the highest sin for leftists. That's why they love the estate tax. They hate that some people are born wealthy while others are not. And then there's their politics. Even if your born rich and are a rich capitalist, it's OK as long as you support leftist politics. Think Warren Buffet.

Obama has a ton of accomplishments, but they're all bad.

Mayor dictator, I mean Bloomberg, wants the federal government to "deliberately force" cities to accept immigrants. Maybe he wants them to threaten nuclear annihilation. What fun for the sociopaths.

I hope Rand Paul holds a limited government sword of Damocles over Romney if he wins, but I have no confidence this will happen. Did I mention the euro is imploding?

Obama blames the tea party. Have you seen a tea party lately? Yawn. I haven't seen one in a year at least, and our local, supposedly energetic young tea party coordinator won election to a council in a suburb of Dayton. Then he became head of the county Montgomery party. I bet he's profited well. It's almost like he was using the tea party for his own gain like every other human who ever existed.

Democrat backtracks after being honest, comparing equity companies to rapists. He's a democrat, so he gets a pass.

Obama gets a big kick out of demonizing Romney and his equity company Bain Capital, but Obama raised more money from equity capital firms than anybody in 2008. That's because they were scared. Obama, with his reins on government power, scares me too. If you're not scared of Obama, he's using government power to funnel other people's money to you.

MEDIA:

British paper examines SAT scores for Obama's class at Columbia and finds them lower than George Bush's, then they dare to wonder of Obama is dumber than Bush. Obama is hiding his scores for a reason, but you won't see any media outlet in the US publicly examine this.

Obama's media allies refuse to cover the biggest religious lawsuit in American history: Catholics filing suit against Obama's order to provide contraception. I'm not a big fan of churches, and I resent that the Catholic church has been such a tool for totalitarianism in America for so long, but I love this lawsuit. It's like they cheered government on for a century while it stole our rights, but suddenly government tried to steal one of their rights, so they're fighting back. They should have done so long ago.

LOCAL:

For hundreds of millions of years, our ancestors survived the water without life vests. The swam. So I don't want to hear how the guy who drowned this morning didn't have a life vest. This is just a gratuitous call for more government intervention in our lives. The lack of life vest wasn't his problem. Something else was his problem, otherwise he would have just swam back and climbed in his boat.
"That’s when he heard the man yelling for help. He said the water wasn’t that deep, and he didn’t understand why the man couldn’t get back into the boat."
Exactly. Something else was wrong.
"Jeff Boester from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, said everyone close to water needs to “be responsible” by wearing a life jacket."
God forbid people have fun and swim without lifevests, much like they should never take a step outside their homes without full body bubble wrap. We're the stupidest people in the world. Why don't we make sure anybody who says something that stupid loses their job?
"A few hours after the incident, another fisherman pulled his boat into the dock. He fishes the lake about every day, but said he doesn’t wear a life jacket because they’re “a hassle.”"
And maybe he can swim. I bet you the guy who died, died of a heart attack, and this article is nothing but a gross advertisement for government to steal more of our money and power. The man who died was 68, so every young or middle aged person who is health and can swim must put on a life preserver since an old man drowned. It's like if a meteor stuck your roof and killed somebody in your family, the government would use that incident as an excuse to require everybody to have meteor-proof roofs, and steal bunches of money from them for an inspector, the brother or best friend of some politician, to inspect the roofs every now and then while making millions for doing so.

ECONOMY:

Just when you thought the Facebook IPO was funny, government gets involved...
"Investors and regulators raised new concerns about the $16 billion IPO as Facebook shares (FB) fell a second straight day, extending losses to 18 percent below the $38 offer price.
Morgan Stanley, the lead underwriter, released a statement defending its handling of the May 17 IPO after the Massachusetts security division yesterday subpoenaed the investment bank over its communications with clients. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the brokerage industry’s watchdog both said they may review the offering, and a buyer of Facebook stock sued Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (NDAQ) (NDAQ) over glitches in opening-day trading.
The anticipation that preceded history’s biggest technology IPO has been replaced by investor ire, including about whether the offer was priced too high."
Oh yeah. The CIA funded Facebook, and it expected a big profit from the IPO. Oops. And since investors don't agree, the government is going to punish somebody. Make sure it isn't you. Run away from Facebook as fast as you can. Don't be fooled by temporary manipulations by government agents. The new dot.com bubble is bursting fast, and the government is angry because it's losing money.

What else would you expect for the greatest emperor in history? Video of the launch.

As often as the CBO has stuck a stick in the eye of Obama's policies, only half right about this:
"A new government study released Tuesday says that allowing Bush-era tax cuts to expire and a scheduled round of automatic spending cuts to take effect would probably throw the economy into a recession.
The Congressional Budget Office report says that the economy would shrink by 1.3 percent in the first half of next year if the government is allowed to fall off this so-called "fiscal cliff" on Jan. 1 -- and that the higher tax rates and more than $100 billion in automatic cuts to the Pentagon and domestic agencies are kept in place."
Raising taxes will hurt because people will perceive they have less money. On the other hand, cutting Pentagon spending will boost the economy because it will free up resources scheduled to be squandered by the government for people to use to create wealth.

Pretty much every day government's irresponsible (redundant, I'm sure) interventions in the economy produces bizarre consequences. Here's one of them:
"A widow who conceived a baby from the sperm of her late husband is not automatically entitled to Social Security survivor's benefits to help raise the child, the Supreme Court ruled Monday.
The 9-0 decision rejected the claim that a biological child of a married couple, even one born years after the father died, always qualifies as his survivor under the Social Security Act."

""As long as he's not doing anything illegal there cant be a problem with it," Councilman Matthew McGowan said. "However, that area's still a little murky which is why we're doing our research.""
What's murky about it?
""By establishing oversight of these previously unregulated games, Law enforcement, consumers, and charities can operate in a more fair environment," Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine stated."
What's unfair about it? To whom is it unfair?

DeWine on internet sweepstakes cafes in front of Lucky's on Dixie. More. HB 195. Here's a provision that supports the bar business.
"That is because the bill — House Bill 195 — would limit to five the number of sweepstakes machines allowed in each Internet cafe or business."
And here's a provision that supports the casino business.
"Also, HB195 would prohibit the awarding of cash prizes to those who play sweepstakes machines. Cash prizes are the norm in local Internet cafes."
They're also planning to limit the number of businesses in counties based on population. This is all about money. A new business model threatens to compete with two well established business models, so those establishments are using government to restrict or wipe the upstart. They compete with casinos, bars and charity bingo. Some cafes welcome regulation because it will harm their competitors. Butler county towns block cafes. Here's the gray area:
"The biggest question - whether the activity is gambling - hasn't been answered at the state level. However, courts around Ohio are split on the issue, allowing Internet sweepstakes cafes to open, primarily in northwestern Ohio.
"It's definitely a gray area," said Christy Prince, who practices gaming law for Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter in Columbus. "One judge in Toledo ruled it was legal. In Akron, a judge said it is illegal gambling.""
Why did the Akron judge rule it was illegal? Here's why I say this is all a money grab:
"Expensive permit fees are being used to regulate the businesses in some cities. Brook Park, a suburb of Cleveland, decided in June that it would charge operators $41,000 a year for an establishment with 100 machines."
If you have deep pockets, you can afford to pay off politicians, so you're allowed to open an internet sweepstakes cafe. If you don't too bad. Akron operator plead guilty to gambling.
"At the same time as Powley was making his announcement, Cynthia Groff, 56, of Akron, was pleading guilty in municipal court to operating a gambling house in connection with the Ohio Internet Cafe.
Powley said Groff applied for the prosecutor's diversion program and agreed to forfeit to the city all the items seized, including the $2,300 and the computers."
Talk about a naked money grab.
"''Their theory being, if they sell a phone card along with a chance to gamble, that would be no different from a McDonald's kind of Monopoly game or some other sweepstakes prize game.
''This business of selling phone cards is just a front for gambling,'' he said."
So why is it different for McDonalds? And of course, it isn't really gambling because the maximum payout is determined in advance.

Where did she get that wacky idea from? “This was nothing more than a fact-checking error by me,” says Obama’s literary agent Miriam Goderich, a “fact” that went so un-“checked” that it stayed up on her agency’s website in the official biography of her by-then-famous client up until 2007: “He was born in Kenya to an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister.”

"Yes," Papoulias replied. "Altogether. One day, alone."
That was Monday. Since then the memo has been leaked to news media and confirmed by the president's office, becoming a bombshell for markets and skittish savers."
