Free kibbles

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

While it's true that internet freedom is under assault by governments everywhere, I don't give a damn what Google plutocrats who have made billions off of government regulation have to say about it. If he really gives a damn about freedom, he would return the billions he made off government's coercive patents.

ECONOMY:

The number of Americans who have dropped out of the labor force reaches a new record under Obama.
"Those “Not in Labor Force” is at a new record high of 87,897,000."
This isn't the news story. The news story is that as bad as Obama and Democrats have been on our economy, the American people have overcome the damage and our economy is still limping along.

Great quote from article about protecting your gold from confiscation:
"If there has been a more dangerous time for your wealth in human history we are unaware of it. There have been individual or even entire nations of people who have been wiped out in the past but never before has there been such risk to assets across the entire globe."
No wonder Switzerland is booming.

Guess what the gold boom has brought:
"Australian bullion dealer ABC Bullion is reporting that one of its suppliers has provided them photographic evidence of a tungsten filled 1 kilo gold bar,. The bar passed a hand-held xrf scan which showed 99.98% pure AU. The tungsten was only discovered when the bar was physically cut in half."
Counterfeits. There are no gold bullets.

According to Forbes, half of America's fastest growing cities are in Texas. Imagine that.

TAX AND SPEND:

You know what happens when government steals money from taxpayers and shovels it to contractors? They don't pay taxes.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

Great quote from article about protecting your gold from confiscation:
"If there has been a more dangerous time for your wealth in human history we are unaware of it. There have been individual or even entire nations of people who have been wiped out in the past but never before has there been such risk to assets across the entire globe."
No wonder Switzerland is booming. Because the dollar is the world's reserve currency, that means that when the Fed inflates, central banks all around the world inflate with it. But it's worse for Americans.
"US citizens have it the worst of anyone. The US Government has been closing as many doors as possible. It has been years since a US citizen has been accepted in any other country as a stock brokerage client as the SEC has used the threat of their black helicopters to ensure that no one dare accept those with a US passport as a client. And now, with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, or FATCA passed in 2010 and some of its legislation coming into effect this year, it all but ensures that soon no bank anywhere in the world will accept US citizens as clients... it's just too risky as even not reporting one client, even if it is by accident, gives the US Government the "right" to seize a large part of that banks business."
The banksters in charge know what's going on, so they're taking action to prevent people from escaping their clutches.
"The US and almost every country on Earth is preparing for this and already checks everyone leaving almost every country to divulge whether they are taking more than $10,000 with them. The US has even put cash sniffing dogs at many of their international airports and accosts you as you walk to the plane to make sure you do not leave with more than a pittance of money. The next step will be to disallow you to take that money from the country altogether.
At that point many western countries will have no problem pushing through legislation to confiscate gold or at least tax it at some obscene level. No one except "rich people" – the 1% – own gold as far as the public is concerned and the fascist media always likes to portray those who own precious metals as terrorists laundering money or deposed dictators fleeing from their countries. You don't think the public won't cheer when gold is taxed at 90% of its value or confiscated?"
This is the problem with owning gold: location. You need to own gold, but you can't keep it here unless you bought it secretly. It's unlikely the government will pull confiscation as Roosevelt did in the past, but our rulers will punish gold owners as much as possible using demagoguery and policies that support it. And the US has already beaten up Switzerland over banking. But the Swiss have survived for 500 years against foreign tyranny. And Asian countries besides Japan and South Korea aren't that intimidated either.
"Generally, one simply must internationalize one's assets. The biggest danger investors face, by far, is not market risk – huge as that will be – but political risk. The only way to insulate yourself from such risk is to diversify yourself politically and geographically."
It's hard for Americans to believe this. We grew up thinking the US was the bastion against tyranny, but today, it's our government is the major source of tyranny in the world, and it exercises that tyranny all over the western world. Americans who are stuck in the old way of thinking will be victims.

While the press was busy distracting us with nonsense, Congress passed a bill called FATCA making the US banking system obsolete. In other words, Congress just severed the US banking system from the world system, and we're all going to suffer because of it.
"Needless to say, this legislation is going to rapidly reduce the significance of the US banking sector in the long run as other countries seek new financial pathways that re-route funds around New York. Congratulations, Congress!"
I like the part about arrogance.

EDUCATION:

Millions of stimulus boondoggle dollars wasted on corrupt government schools.
"More than $4.8 million in stimulus funding went to charter schools in Ohio that have since closed their doors, and millions more went to schools that have been accused of mishandling hundreds of thousands of dollars in public money."
Just as you would expect.

Great article exposes how government has fueled the higher education bubble by trapping students in debt.

HEALTH CARE:

Big business poised to buy up supplement companies. This will suck because this means government will gain control of supplements. They've been trying to regulate them for years to no avail, but since government controls big corporations, they'll regulate them that way.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

All too often I read things that sublimely illustrate the outrageous fraudulence being perpetrated on us by government agents on a daily basis. This is one of those cases:
"New paper in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics demonstrates that planets do not cause solar cycles"
You can't make this stuff up.

POLICE STATE:

Government agents are secretly monitoring the emails of IT professionals and analyzing them for behavioral analysis. This way worse than creepy. First of all, do you think they're limiting themselves to IT professionals? Second, what kind of behavioral analysis? Third, where's the warrant? Forth, why do we tolerate this grotesque abuse of natural right? Fifth, why haven't we left this country to enjoy greater freedom in North Korea?

I'm not the only one who recognizes the corruption of the jury system.

WAR:

Here's another story that isn't news.
"Taliban insurgents struck the heart of the Afghan capital and three eastern cities Sunday, firing automatic weapons and grenades at embassies, government buildings and NATO bases as they launched the spring fighting season with the boldest and most complex assault in years."
Please. The Taliban has been effectively coordinating resistance to US troops for 11 years. This isn't news. It's the status quo. OK, maybe they're better at it this year than last year, but that's not news either. These were not fly-by-night attacks. They lasted 18 hours.

This is a heart-breaking story about the victims of the US soldier who murdered 16 in Afghanistan. It also tells the story of the callousness of Americans who don't care about those victims. This an ugly and important article.

FOREIGN POLICY:

For some reason, the Egyptian army has rejected the Muslim Brotherhood candidate for president. They're not happy. I wonder which superpower government might have intervened.

I put this in foreign policy only because it talks about the CIA, not the Ford Foundation.

POLITICS:

Reason recognizes that Obama and Romney are pretty much identical.
"So the presidential campaign is shaping up as a contest between a Democrat who says we had a free market from 2001 through 2008 and a Republican who . . . agrees—he says “[w]e are only inches away from ceasing to be a free market economy.” You can’t cease to be something you never were.
Thus Barack Obama claims and Mitt Romney implicitly concedes that the free market 1) has existed and 2) therefore presumably created the housing and financial debacle. This bodes ill for advocates of liberty and voluntary exchange.
Notice what will happen if this framing is widely accepted: Genuinely freed markets won’t make the list of feasible options. That will leave us with mere variations on a statist theme, namely, corporatism. How will voters choose among them? Most of those who abhor “socialism” (however they define it) will rally round Republican corporatism because of the pro-market rhetoric, while most who abhor the cruel “free market” (“Look at the hardship it created!”) will rush to Democratic corporatism because of its anti-market rhetoric.
And the winner will be: Corporatism. (That is, the use of government force primarily to benefit the well-connected business elite.) The loser? The people, who would benefit from freedom and freed markets—markets void of privileges and arbitrary decrees. That’s what maximizes consumer and worker bargaining power and enhances general living standards."
Nothing will change. We'll continue down the same destructive path of ever increasing government domination of society.

Another great picture of illustrates Obama and Romney are virtually identical.

On liberal class theory.
"In summary, the taxing power necessarily produces two classes: those who create wealth and those who take and receive it. The producers of wealth naturally want to keep it and use it for their own purposes. Those who wish to expropriate it look for clever ways to get it without unduly upsetting its creators. One way is to teach people that they are the state and that paying ever-more in taxes benefits themselves. The public schools have been particularly useful in that mission."
Marx got it wrong.

Photos of Ron Paul on his bike. He is fit.

Paul wins significant delegates in Minnesota and Colorado.
"In Minnesota, Ron Paul supporters swept the three district conventions that occurred today, winning nine of nine delegates to the national convention. Minnesota is set to hold more such conventions next week.
In Colorado, supporters of the 12-term Congressman from Texas won 12 delegates and 13 alternate delegates. Paul’s state operation is confident that it can win over more of the Rick Santorum delegates to its side who were elected on a combined Paul-Santorum slate. The Paul-Santorum coalition’s combined delegate total is 20—more than establishment candidate Mitt Romney's estimated 16. In addition, the Paul-Santorum coalition denied Romney delegates all the committee spots within the Colorado National Delegation. Two Ron Paul supporters will serve on the Rules Committee and the Paul coalition dethroned known Romney supporter and Colorado State Party Chairman Ryan Call from his position as Delegation Chairman."
As expected Paul is prospering from Santorum's withdrawal. Anybody who thinks the primary is over is mistaken.

The Washington Times recognizes that Paul's delegate strategy is working even though most news outlets are ignoring him.

I'm getting a kick out of all this phony outrage over the Secret Service agents and prostitutes. I especially like this quote:
"Issa, speaking on CBS' Face The Nation, also said the head of the Secret Service must determine whether similar incidents have happened before."
Issa and everybody else in Washington knows this goes on all the time. The press knows it too. It's considered a perk of the job. I'm happy to hear that prostitution is legal in Columbia. There's another country that's more free than the US. Hillary Clinton dances the night away in Columbia. Good for her, she deserves to have her fun, but how many prostitutes did she hire? The press will never tell us.

MEDIA:

19 things the media isn't reporting, but if you read this blog, you've heard about most of them.

LOCAL:

Study shows Dayton has more vacant offices than any city in the US. Needless to say, local officials disagree. But what else would they say?

MISC:

Today is a wonderful reminder that the market empowered Jackie Robinson to play major league baseball despite numerous laws targeting blacks.

NASA is looking for ideas about colonizing Mars. I have one: abolish NASA. Then colonizing Mars will happen quickly.

Suupposed examples of anarchy in history.

Steps to expatriation.
