The US Navy is paying a company to hack into game consoles, but don't worry. They'll only hack into overseas consoles. Our benevolent government would never use technology developed for war on the American people. Oh wait...
This NSA data center is being designed to do things that aren't legal.
"Its purpose: to intercept, decipher, analyze, and store vast swaths of the world's communications as they zap down from satellites and zip through the underground and undersea cables of international, foreign, and domestic networks. The heavily fortified $2 billion center should be up and running in September 2013. Flowing through its servers and routers and stored in near-bottomless databases will be all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails — parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital 'pocket litter.' It is, in some measure, the realization of the 'total information awareness' program created during the first term of the Bush administration — an effort that was killed by Congress in 2003 after it caused an outcry over its potential for invading Americans' privacy."Legality is just a formality. Because Congress doesn't exercise its authority, it's become just for show.
FOREIGN POLICY:
I used to get upset with North Korea threatened a missile launch because I bought into the propaganda about foreign lunatics, blah, blah, blah. But it's just a baby government crying for attention. North Korea's top brass aren't suicidal.
Neither are Iran's. They just agreed to negotiations in Turkey.
LOCAL:
Our great and wise rulers are deigning to listen to the serfs. Check out this title: "Speak. Be heard. Be considered." I wonder if our rulers will make the serfs bow and kiss their rings before pretending to care about what they say. I think I might puke.
MISC:
Evidence that our ancestors used fire 1 million years ago.
Great Onion article exposes the stupidity of laws against prostitution.
I never had any desire to go to Las Vegas, so I've never gone. But if they had built a life-size model of the starship Enterprise, I'd have gone for sure. And probably got hooked. What a dummy.
