Police State

Ohio's public defender system inefficient and in need of reform. Of course it is.

NSA targets people who use encryption and anonymization services. Of course they do. They can't stand being denied information.

FISA rules allow NSA to use information on Americans without a warrant. FISA oversight is a joke. All this talk about what NSA agents can and cannot legally do misses the point. Government agents break the law with impunity. Look at Obama's war on Libya.
"In his interview with the president last night, Charlie Rose asked Obama about the oversight he claims exists: "Should this be transparent in some way?" Obama's answer: "It is transparent. That's why we set up the Fisa Court." But as Politico's Josh Gerstein noted about that exchange: Obama was "referring to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court – which carries out its work almost entirely in secret.""
Yet Obama will get away with this.

Justice Department files charges against Snowden.
"Hong Kong had no immediate reaction.
In Iceland, a business executive said Friday that a private plane was on standby to transport Snowden from Hong Kong to Iceland, although Iceland's government says it has not received an asylum request from Snowden."
It's good that people are helping him.

Qantas and Australian government jump on spying bandwagon.
