Freedom of Speech

The president of Ecuador refuses to surrender Assange under threat from the British.
"“The government of Ecuador, faithful to its tradition of protecting those who seek refuge in its territory or in its diplomatic missions, has decided to grant diplomatic asylum to Julian Assange,” said Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, reading from a government communiqué at a news conference in the Ecuadorean capital, Quito. He added, “There are indications to presume that there could be political persecution,” and that Mr. Assange would not get a fair trial in the United States and could face the death penalty there. "
Good for him. The US used to be against the storming of embassy's when the Iranians did it to the US embassy. Here's another double standard for the US.

US reaction to Assange's asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy shows how the US government has adopted the Soviet mentality.

Julien Assange's mom calls out the US.
"Assange's mother says the U.S. is behind the British threats on the embassy. Her comment about how the U.S. operates is perceptive: "What the US wants, the US gets from its allies, regardless of if it's legal or if it's ethical or in breach of human or legal rights.""
This is a function of the US government's foreign policy of aggression.
