Free kibbles

FREEDOM OF SPEECH:

Wikileaks posts all of its US diplomatic cables unredacted.

ECONOMY:

The US added no jobs in August, the worst official showing since last September. They'll probably revise that down in a few weeks. They always do.
"Hiring fell across many different sectors. Manufacturers cut 3,000 jobs, its first decline since October 2010. Construction companies, retailers, and transportation firms also cut workers. The health care industry added 30,000 jobs last month."
So we're not only getting less productive. We're also becoming sicker. That's a great combination.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

Prediction that paper money will collapse in 2-5 years. That matches the prediction I saw that the US will return to the gold standard within 5 years. Maybe it's the same prediction. It's funny how ominous it sounds when you call it the collapse of paper money and how positive it sounds when you call it a return the gold standard.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Forecasters might be being honest about this storm after their misrepresentation of Irene:
"A slow-moving tropical system packing walloping rains is slogging its way to the Gulf coast and was expected to make landfall on Saturday in Louisiana where the governor has declared a state of emergency."
It sounds just like Irene, but the news service lied about Irene, calling it a hurricane instead of a slow-moving tropical storm and warning about storm surge instead of heavy rain, costing people lives.

Obama orders the EPA not to implement new regulations because they will hurt the economy. In a classic example of double-speak, he pretends this reduces regulations, as if they existed before he took office. They didn't.
"The EPA’s proposed regulations for ground-level ozone, a main ingredient of smog, would have tightened those issued during President George W. Bush’s administration in 2008. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson had said that those rules wouldn’t stand up to legal scrutiny. The EPA’s proposal would have cost the economy $19 billion to $90 billion, making it the most expensive new regulation under consideration by the Obama administration, according to the White House.“The Obama administration is caving to big polluters at the expense of protecting the air we breathe,” Gene Karpinski, president of the League of Conservation Voters, an environmental group, said today in an e-mailed statement. “This is a huge win for corporate polluters and a huge loss for public health.”"
He's alienating his base by doing this, so he must be getting desperate.

Climate frauds force out an editor of a peer reviewed journal for publishing the paper of a skeptic. They control the government money, so they control the peer review process and have the power.

POLICE STATE:

Leaked emails show bullying mentality of police chiefs.
"That stupid bitch who started that stolen car chase at Yale and 610 got what she deserved (I'll bet she was fat and black too). Same with that pervert that got shot by the county. Fuck that guy, see ya. That all sounds like good police work to me. Those folks got the criminal cure. It's guaranteed, they will never commit a crime again."
Nice.

LOCAL:

State health officials claim heart attacks dropped after they implemented the smoking ban, but they also claim the ban didn't affect bar revenue, which is obviously untrue as anybody who frequents bars noticed.

MISC:

If bioengineers can splice genes to kill cancer cells, then terrorists can splice them to self-destruct.
