TAX AND SPEND:

Politicians throw more money down the black hole of Greek government.

I'm skeptical of this report claiming Jerry Falwell's organization got nearly half a billion in aid from the government. I'm not skeptical that Falwell is profiting from the political economy, but the size is hard to believe. I bet most of this will turn out to be so-called tax breaks, i.e. money the government didn't steal, not money stolen from others and paid to Falwell.
"According to The News & Advance, "In the span of a year, Liberty's experienced about a 56 percent spike in federal student aid, from $284 million in 2008-2009 to $445 million in 2009-2010, according to Department of Education data compiled by The News & Advance. (LU calculates the total aid at $432 million and $277 million, still a 56 percent increase.)""
OK. So this isn't aid to Falwell. It's aid to Falwell's students. And why shouldn't Falwell's students get as much aid as students of any other school? The government has no business funding any students to go to school, but if it's going to fund them, it might as well fund Falwell's religiously conservative students as well as Harvard's religious liberal students.

GLOBAL WARMING:

Because there's so much snow in the western mountains, ski resorts opened for the Fourth of July.

Judge orders the University of Virginia to release Mann emails pursuant to FOIA.

A couple of days ago I reported on a Harvard study claiming Fourth of July parades boost Republicans and that, as a result of that study, Democrats would try to ban them. Today we get a story about how Fourth of July barbecues add to global warming. Joe Bastardi draws the connection and debunks.
"Not only is this  another foolish global warming  idea, but it’s an attack on a cherished 4th of July American ritual (summer too)  and an American tradition that lasts into other season (tailgating) but its targeting meat eaters too."
This fraud promotes many liberal causes all in one attack. Maybe I should praise the New York Times for being economical. On a related note, Chicago cancelled its fireworks show. I'm sure finances are the official reason, but I bet the Harvard study played a role. I like fireworks shows, but they should be funded voluntarily.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION:

Because of a tough illegal immigration law in Georgia, crops are rotting in the fields.

POLITICS:

As I theorized yesterday, the prosecutors in the DSK trial are concerned with one thing: winning.
"The prosecution team recognizes “a really terrible witness can still be a victim,” but now has to decide in the coming weeks if the maid “is someone we can put on the stand and trust,” one source directly familiar with the case said."
They're not concerned if a crime happened or not. They're only concern is whether they can win. They've been trying the accuser in the press to test the jury pool.

This article wants us to believe that governors fight wildfires.
