Free kibbles

STATES RIGHTS:

A long time ago I suggested that counties might secede and form new states before any states would secede from the union, changing the face of America as we know it. It looks like counties in Southern California are considering just that. More power to them.

TAX AND SPEND:

It cracks me up how the governor of Minnesota only shut down parts of the government people will be unhappy about.
"It's not going to be much of a holiday weekend in Minnesota. State parks and museums are closed - the result of a budget standoff between the Democratic governor and Republican legislative leaders. All highway rest areas are closed - and you can't get a fishing license."
Unlike most government services, these things make money too, but he shut them down anyway. You can bet if somebody tried to fish without a license, some government agent would be there to bust them. He didn't shut down the police state.

Praise for Ron Paul's plan to temporarily fix the debt ceiling problem: have the Fed destroy the treasuries it owns. This article gives a couple of reasons why this is a good idea, but it misses the best, imo. Having the Fed destroy those treasuries will highlight how phony the system is. It's a just a bunch of paper with no value.

Plan for more Obama lawlessness, ignoring the debt ceiling, makes the case the people have no standing to challenge anything government does. Only government has standing to challenge government. The fiction that government operates under is falling apart.

HEALTH CARE:

Description of mental illness as a superstition, not a medical science, on a par with witchcraft and demonic possession as a cause of an individual's problems with living as society defines them hints that modern psychiatry is a tool government uses to oppress people.

GLOBAL WARMING AND ENERGY:

Poor Indians who can't get access to the power grid because it's controlled by government get power from solar cells.

POLITICS:

Now the news is reporting DSK's accuser was a prostitute. I'm used to defense lawyers sliming accusers in the media, but I've never seen a prosecutor do the work and the sliming for them. Prosecutors notoriously cover up such evidence, refusing to turn it over in discovery, but not in this case. A theory for why prosecutors are trashing their own client.
"There is a third possibility, and that is that the private investigators for the Strauss-Kahn defense did their own work and presented the facts to the Manhattan DA and warned them that if they did not act, the defense would make sure that the material would be leaked in a very unceremonious way. Any way one slices this material, however, it is clear that Vance and his employees have a lot of explaining to do."
That seems pretty weak. The defense in the Casey Anthony trial has slimed her dad, but prosecutors didn't slime her dad. In my experience, prosecutors have no qualms about lying and their witnesses lying. They don't car about facts, truth or justice. On the other hand, prosecutors hate to lose. It could well be that DSK's defense was so strong they thought if they took the case to trial, they would lose. Therefore it was to their advantage to trash the accuser to make themselves look principled.

Argument that Blago's desire to use Obama's Senate seat for political advantage is not illegal, and that since no cash changed hands, he committed no crime. All politics is corrupt, but political horse-trading is not illegal.
