Free kibbles

RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS:

Kagan authored Clinton's import ban on firearms.

SOCIALISM:

Spanish government announces spending cuts, but it won't be enough. Look for rioting in Spain. I like this line:
"Public investment to be cut by 6 bln euros"
Don't you like how government spending, vote buying, has become public investment?

ECONOMY:

Abu Dhabi hotel has a vending machine that sells gold.

TAX AND SPEND:

We've heard a lot about how deficits and debt are the worst since WWII. Well in April, the deficit was the worst ever. Even worse than during WWII. Nice job, Obama and Democrats.

Taxes are not at a historic low. I'm sure your wallet can tell you that.

I'm glad somebody besides me is pointing out that the social costs of welfare, more employment, more people trapped on welfare are not unintended consequences, they're intended consequences. They're doing it to us on purpose.
"The way to stop inflation is to “stop inflating the money supply.”  Paul then cites the three main reasons politicians, bankers, etc., desire inflation:  greed, power, and a way to pay the government’s bills without raising taxes sky-high. "
That sounds like one reason to me.

FEDERAL RESERVE:

The consequences of leaving the gold standard:
"[O]n August 15, 1971, President Nixon “closed the ‘gold window.’”  This was the beginning of “managed fiat currency.”
Paul states that since 1971, the price of gold has increased “more than twentyfold.”  The trade deficit has increased by 1146%, and the Consumer Price Index has increased 79%."
This should be proof enough that we need to end the Fed, get government out of our money and let the people develop their own monetary standard.

EDUCATION:

Government school makes Environmental Police Agency video featuring kids using violence against people they deem to be environmentally unfriendly.

HEALTH CARE:

How Romneycare increased costs for small and other businesses in Massachusetts. Romney used to be a successful businessman, but now he's the Republican Barack Obama.

GLOBAL WARMING:

October 2009 through March 2010 was the snowiest on record in the northern hemisphere.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION:

Boortz asks the what this Arizona law enables Arizona police to do that federal immigration agents can't already do. I don't know what his deal is because I'm sure he knows the answer. I've emailed it to him just in case he doesn't. The Arizona law empowers police to stop people and demand ID on a whim (reasonable suspicion is code for whim). Federal immigration agents can't do that. They have to have warrants.

WAR:

In case you were unclear on just how much these nation-building wars have twisted our militaries, putting them in no-win situations, NATO wants to give soldiers medals for restraint.

Seymour Hersh accuses US troops of executing prisoners on the battlefield in Afghanistan. It'll be interesting to see if this can be verified. As much as I hate to believe it, I can see how it would happen. These guys are over there risking their lives doing what they've been told makes Americans safer, and back here they see Guantanamo detainees being freed and going back the battlefield. Our politicians have put these guys in no-win, illegal war, and the result is even more chaos than usual in war.

POLITICS:

Winner take all elections tend to result in two party systems. But in the old days, one of the two parties could be replaced with a third party like the Republicans replaced the Whigs. But today, because of all the institutional barriers erected by the two parties, third parties don't have that chance.

Why Bennett lost in Utah:
"His gravest sins, according to critics, were his longtime support for a health insurance mandate and his vote for the TARP bailout of the banks."
It just goes to show how establishment Republicans are basically the same as Democrats. The choice is always between tweedledum and tweedledummer. Since this guy was a reliable conservative he must have supported never-ending war, using government's gun to keep gays from saying they're married and looting trillions from the American people to buy votes.

MEDIA:

Ron Paul is all over Foxnews lately. This is a great thing. During the 2008 campaign, Foxnews, along with all the other news stations, did their best to shut him out. But getting so much airtime on the most popular news channel can only help the freedom agenda and his possible run in 2012.

MISC:

It's about time Google started answering questions instead of just giving links. The problem is pretty soon people will just depend on this, then the government will push Google to give only politically correct answers and people will believe them without seeking more information. As long as it limits itself to simple, non-controversial facts, it'll be great.

Reason claims Obama selected Kagan because she would be a reliable rubber stamp for unconstitutional liberal laws and regulations. If so, it would be pretty amazing considering the antipathy the American people have toward Democrats. Still, Obama Kagan will support every increasing government power, and that suits Obama's agenda. Moderate Republicans, government-lovers just like Democrats and Kagan, support Kagan.

I just picked up this quote because Timothy McVeigh used it at his sentencing:
"Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes the law breaker, it breeds contempt for laws; it invites every man to become a law unto himself."
How true is that? How can we teach children to be peaceful when government is violence? How can we teach children to be frugal when government is the most outrageous spender ever? How can we teach children to respect others when government oppresses us all for its own benefit?
"But I’ve left you behind in the Ravello garden of Klingsor, where, live on television, I mentioned the unmentionable word “why,” followed by the atomic trigger word “Waco.” Charles Gibson, 3,500 miles away, began to hyperventilate. “Now, wait a minute … ” he interrupted. But I talked through him. Suddenly I heard him say, “We’re having trouble with the audio.” Then he pulled the plug that linked ABC and me. The soundman beside me shook his head. “Audio was working perfectly. He just cut you off.” So, in addition to the governmental shredding of Amendments 4, 5, 6, 8, and 14, Mr. Gibson switched off the journalists’ sacred First."
I thought that kind of stuff just happened in the movies.
"In the March 20, 1996, issue of Strategic Investment newsletter, it was reported that Pentagon analysts tended to agree with General Partin. “A classified report prepared by two independent Pentagon experts has concluded that the destruction of the Federal building in Oklahoma City last April was caused by five separate bombs.… Sources close to the study say Timothy McVeigh did play a role in the bombing but ‘peripherally,’ as a ‘useful idiot.’” Finally, inevitably—this is wartime, after all—“the multiple bombings have a Middle Eastern ‘signature,’ pointing to either Iraqi or Syrian involvement.”"
I hadn't heard that before either.
"As it turned out, Partin’s and Cohen’s pro bono efforts to examine the ruins were in vain. Sixteen days after the bombing, the search for victims stopped. In another letter to Congress, Partin stated that the building should not be destroyed until an independent forensic team was brought in to investigate the damage. “It is also easy to cover up crucial evidence as was apparently done in Waco.… Why rush to destroy the evidence?” Trigger words: the Feds demolished the ruins six days later. They offered the same excuse that they had used at Waco, “health hazards.” Partin: “It’s a classic cover-up.”"
I'm embarrassed I wasn't aware of all this. I watched Waco like a hawk. I drove through Waco on the day the feds burned it to the ground and saw the smoke billowing from the ranch. But I wasn't aware of any of this about the Oklahoma City bombing.

El Nino fades away. El Nino usually brings warm weather like in 1998, but we continued to have cool weather and a cold winter during it. That doesn't bode well for next winter.
