Free kibbles

TAX AND SPEND:

Marc Faber says it's only a matter of time until all governments including the US default on their debt. It's the only realistic option. Welfare state voters won't allow government to cut spending, run a surplus and pay off their debt.

MISC:

Google buys iPhone search ap then kills it. I hate that. This takes away consumer choice. That's what Microsoft used to do to quash promising technology - most notably voice recognition - that threatened their business model. What is the free market response to keep this from happening? Somebody makes a new ap that does the same thing? That's all I can think of. If consumers want it, somebody will re-create it. In Microsoft's case, they bought the IP so nobody else could do that.
